Shaku Maku in Dublin

Excellent, tasty Palestinian cuisine

Food was amazing, but the music was disturbing. Why not a nice melo music to enjoy this amazing food. Still I'll give them 5 star for their delicious food!

The food Is absolutely delicious. Everything was yummy, the hummus, baba ganoush, cauliflower wings, potatoes, tabbouleh ... and brownie, too. Kind and friendly staff. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will go back. My friends loved it too.

Shaku Maku is a lovely spot in Rathmines for Middle Eastern food. The mezze selection is excellent — fresh hummus, falafel, baba ghanoush, and tabbouleh, all full of flavor and perfect for sharing. The food feels authentic, made with quality ingredients, and overall good value for money. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, with a relaxed vibe that works well for groups or casual dinners. The restaurant is especially enjoyable in the evenings, though it can get busy and a bit noisy at peak times. Service was generally fine, though sometimes a little slow when the place was crowded. Still, the staff were friendly and helpful once at the table. Overall, it’s a great place to enjoy fresh Levantine flavors in Dublin, and I’d definitely recommend it for brunch, dinner, or just sharing mezze with friends.

Long live free and independent Arab Palestine

While the food was nice, portions are on the smaller side for the price. The staff are hot and cold, some very friendly, some couldn’t be more unwelcoming. They all seem to have a habit of standing and leaning with their back against the bar looking at the people eating. It’s quite strange that they haven’t noticed themselves doing this or they don’t care, I and many others would prefer not to be stared at while we eat. The only other issue is if you are serving halal meat, it’s a contradiction to be serving alcohol too. Trusting the process of cooking to maintain the “halalness” of dishes is lacking when alcohol is also offered by the business. It’s nice food but I’d try others for a better atmosphere.

I visited Shaku Maku in Rathmines after spotting one of their lamb dishes in an Instagram reel, and I have to say... it delivered! From the moment you step inside, the place has a warm and vibrant atmosphere. The décor is full of character with nods to Middle Eastern culture, and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. We ordered the lamb dish that was featured online, and honestly, it was one of the best lamb dishes I’ve since Morocco. Cooked to perfection, tender, and full of flavour and everything about it was spot on. Alongside that, the music and Palestine drinks really stood out, making it a full dining experience rather than just a meal. Shaku Maku has that rare balance of great food, genuine hospitality, and a cosy yet stylish setting. If you’re in Dublin and want Middle Eastern food done right, this place is a must. I’ll definitely be back.
