Shearwater Hotel in Ballinasloe

I recently stayed at the Shearwater Hotel for a work trip. The check-in and check-out process was smooth, and the receptionists were friendly and very helpful! I booked a double bedroom, and it was amazing—spacious, clean, and comfortable. I asked the receptionist for a dental kit, and the bathroom was well-stocked with towels, shampoo, and body wash, which was very handy. Also, housekeeping was very neat with cleaning the room. A few notes for future guests: • The breakfast buffet mainly features an Irish breakfast, but there are also cereals, yogurts, fruits, coffee, tea, and really nice pastries. • The hot tub and swimming pool are shared with the gym next door, so it can get busy; I recommend going early. • The hotel is a short walk to the city center and shops, with a Lidl across the road. There’s also a restaurant with room service, though last orders are at 8:30 PM. I had a great stay and will definitely be back!

Did not stay overnight but service and location very good

The staff are great. Had a lovely ribeye steak in the restaurant. The service was fantastic and food just as good. Special thanks to Rafael.

Arrived here for 6 nights for our honeymoon, absolutely beautiful, got a lovely room and a few extra pieces on arrival (free box of chocolates, robe & slippers) The hotel was in a great location meaning we could walk everywhere. Food and service was amazing, but at breakfast maybe re-train the tall waitress with blonde hair how to approach guests who require more space at breakfast (in the end i just ignored her and sat were i wanted) The swimming pool/jacuzzi/steam were basic but done the job to relax you. Hotel staff were friendly and certain ones would go the extra mile. Room service was great and always came back to a lovely tidy room.......BUT NOW for the negative: Be very careful at what you leave out in your room i had to make a complaint as the chocolates that were given to us were taken out our room after 4 nights! I went straight to reception who said they would investigate as nothing like this has happened previously, well they were honest and said it was a long serving member of staff that has admitted taken them but was unsure why!! The reception replaced them for us.

After checking in to the shearwater hotel we went to have dinner in their restaurant. As a gluten and dairy free resident was disappointed on being told the only choice for me was hake and steamed veg. I decided to speak to Abbey another waitress who was more than helpful, she went to the kitchen and brought back a wider selection. Then Des the manager came to see if we were ok and the whole dining experience became a joy instead of something to be endured, breakfast was also a thoroughly injoyable experience with staff going the extra mile to ensure all my food requirements were met. I would just like to say a massive thank you especially to both, Abbey and Des who were both empathetic, understanding and very courteous in the delivery of their roles in the Shearwater, staff like this are worth their weight in gold. Thank you.
