We stayed in the hotel and had dinner here. Food was good but there are some points to improve. After sitting us the hostess mentioned that for dinner there was a five course meal menu served, but when opening the menu we discovered that there was a 2 course meal option as well that was never mentioned. This was a more suitable option since we were stuffed from earlier lunch in Sally Gap. Also after checking the menu we realised that there were no vegetarian options. We had to request the vegetarian menu to the waiter that there were never mentioned before. Moreover, menu options could be broader. Our waiter was very friendly and efficient but there was a slight delay in our mains and nobody approached us. It was an ok experience but it didn’t meet our expectations for a five star’s restaurant hotel.

I am absolutely shocked by the negative reviews I’ve seen on here, me and my husband spent our honeymoon at Powerscourt and decided to visit the sika restaurant (both for dinner and daily breakfast) They treated us so nicely and made such sweet memories for our honeymoon. The food was delicious, the drinks (we had mock tails) went nicely with our food. The desserts were filling but also a nice ending to our evening. The waitress we had was AMAZING, polite and friendly, even though she was clearly busy (I’m truly disappointed with how some guests treat the waiters and staff) It doesn’t hurt to treat waiters with kindness !

We enjoyed the food at Sika restaurant very much. We both selected the roasted quail, with smokey egg yolk and confit leg as our starters. Delicious. I was personally not so in love with the egg yolk, as it was so thick and the smokiness was rather elusive to taste. The chef at Sika knows how to cook protein perfectly. We both asked for venison as our main and to have it cooked medium rare. It was right on. The venison was delicious and very tender. The wine list was okay offering a nice selection of French reds. The white wine offerings could be improved. The service at Sika started out perfectly but fell apart soon afterward. Naveen managed our drink and food selections very well. He noticed that we were busy chatting, so he slowed the service of our starters, allowing us to enjoy the start to the meal that much more. From that point on - a different staff member handled every bit of service afterwards. The fine dining experience was diminished as the different servers simply reached across us and the table to serve the wine, remove starters and serve the main course. The final touch of inexperience happened when, yet another serve picked up our empty red, which we very much enjoyed and asked if we wanted another? At a cost of 90 €’s we chuckled and indicated that one for the evening was enough. We also wondered about the location of the restaurant, it’s the same room where breakfast and lunch are served. A beautiful space but for fine dining should the space not be an exclusive space, heightening the anticipation and feeling of a special treat when enjoying a fine dining experiencein a special place?

Dined at the Sika restaurant with my wife for her birthday last week during a trip to Powerscourt and couldn’t rate it highly enough. The food was exceptional, however the whole dining experience was first class and really made the whole night special. A special mention to Eva who led the team brilliantly and delivered such excellent service! Well done and thanks to everyone! 👌🏻💚🍀
