Skeffington Arms in Galway

What a gem of a hotel! Centrally located on Eyre Square and so easy to find. The rooms were super comfy and had great amenities. The staff is extremely welcoming, friendly, courteous, and helpful. Short walking distance to the train and bus station. Highly recommend!

I don’t think there’s a bad thing I could say about this place! Stayed in June 2024 for 2 nights. Location is great, staff were more than friendly, the two twin beds were fairly comfy (I hate a hard bed) and it was nice to be a part of the action with the bar so close below. When booking (like 8-9 months in advance) I asked to reserve a room in a quieter area and they fulfilled that request. We couldn’t hear anything from our room (above the closed night club, at the back I believe) and they provided us with earplugs just in case! Only thing we personally struggled with was the parking at the mall… could have been the jet lag though lol. When I come back to Galway (one day!) I’ll be staying here again. Thanks Skeff!

We had booked a 13 hour bus trip from Dublin to the Cliffs of Moher but got off in Galway and had booked a night at the Skeffington Arms Hotel. It's perfectly located for Shop Street, the main street in Galway, but also convenient distance to the walking paths along the River Corrib that divides the city on the way to Galway Cathedral. The staff were as everywhere in Galway and Dublin nice and helpful. Good rooms although the view of a tiny cavity at the back of the hotel was not great, but just a one night stay. We heard the music from the bar when we arrived at the hotel at midnight, but our room was far enough away from it that we were not disturbed. Breakfast includes hot options that the waiter takes your order for when you're seated. There should be information about that because we and many others we saw were very disappointed with the other breakfast options that was laid out, deducting a star. Maybe just a temporary problem as it was apparently a temporary room for breakfast when we were there in May 2026?
