Sli Dala Restaurant in Kinnitty

We only went for a day out. It was lovely. The grounds of the castle are lovely and the walk up the mountain is very enjoyable.

My stay at Castle Hotel was far below expectations. I paid for a higher-category room, yet I was placed in an inferior one, in poor condition – with a broken light fixture and facilities that did not match the price paid. I have photographs and videos to prove this. From the moment I arrived, the reception staff were unwelcoming. I was kept waiting for more than two hours before being allowed to check in, and throughout my stay, every request I made was declined without reasonable explanation. I cannot understand why, as my payment holds the same value as any other guest’s. Unfortunately, I felt I was being treated differently. At check-out, I requested that the receptionist call a taxi, as the hotel is located in a rural area where my phone had no signal. She claimed there were no taxis available and stated that no one at the hotel could assist me. Moments later, I saw other guests request taxis and be assisted immediately, right in front of me. I had to go outside the hotel to get signal, and upon my very first call, a taxi arrived within ten minutes. What disappointed me most was the attitude of the staff. They behaved as if they were above their position, lacking the humility and professionalism that hospitality work demands. Their role is to serve guests with courtesy, not to let personal biases dictate their conduct. This was not only unprofessional, but deeply unbecoming of an establishment of this level. As a foreign visitor, it was deeply unsettling to experience such treatment. I was disrespected, poorly attended to, and witnessed behaviour I can only describe as xenophobic – something entirely incompatible with the image this hotel purports to uphold. The hotel itself has good facilities, but the customer service, particularly at reception, was the worst I have ever encountered. I do not recommend it for foreign guests.

We stayed in Kinney Castle for one night recently. We booked the cheapest room which may have been a mistake. But there are no pictures anywhere to see what the rooms are like in advance of booking. The room was small and stuffy. But the bathroom was clean and well stocked. Service was very slow at breakfast. We eventually had to ask the waitress to take our order. But the food was nice when it came. The location was interesting. With nice walks through the woods.

My deepest apologies for not submitting a review sooner! I know I wrote a glowing review, but it was probably to an elopement planning message board. My husband and I knew we would be eloping when we got engaged, but Vegas has never been our style. After a lot of research, we decided on Kinnitty Castle Hotel. As Americans who had never set foot in Ireland (but with a travel agent family member to help when asked [I'm not completely off my rocker!]), we knew it would be a lot of research and planning. I found Kinnitty's wedding and events staff to be of immense help! From options of where we could have the ceremony on the grounds, pricing for extras (despite quite a bit being included!), to their list of preferred vendors - they made things incredibly easy on us. And when it turned out that mailing the decorations I purchased in the U.S. would be way more than the cost of aforementioned decorations, the staff was kind enough to do a bit of decorating for us. In addition to the elopement ceremony and the clear, frequent communication leading up to it from across the ocean, our stay and overall experience was wonderful. The castle and grounds are truly breathtaking. Our room was beautiful and elegant, yet comforable. And dont get me startes on the bathroon: a massive claw-foot tub is now on my bathroom reno wishlist (a girl can dream!). My husband's sister and brother-in-law (also longtime friends of mine) also attended, and they had an equally stunning room. From start to finish, the Kinnitty staff embodied the wonderful Irish hospitality you hear so much about. Everyone was friendly, and pleasantly helpful when assistance was needed. My only regret was not booking extra nights! There were still areas we missed out on exploring, but I'm thrilled with our time and experience there. I hope we are lucky enough to have the opportunity to return someday.

What a BEAUTIFUL castle experience!! My husband and I got married here on June 5, 2025 and what an amazing experience!! Food was excellent, rooms were so quaint, and the staff so kind!! Can't recommend this castle hotel enough!!

The place brought out the princess in me.

We had our wedding at Kinnitty Castle Hotel on 31 May 2025. We must have looked at 50 places around Ireland and was a final list of half a dozen when we found Kinnitty Castle, and it was straight away the best choice for us. Ana, the hotel wedding coordinator, was amazing, so helpful from beginning to end, nothing was a problem, she made everything feel easy and straightforward. All the staff, whether managers or restaurant or bar staff were super nice and helpful. We stayed in the Bridal Suite, which was perfect. Ana helped to realize our vision which was to have the ceremony under the giant spreading beech tree in the woods on the Fairy Trail - it was the most perfect day for us. The building exterior is true Gothic 19th century country house, while the interior has a very authentic old/medieval feel, with nothing forced or false. Thank you to Ana and all the team at Kinnitty!

Amazing place. Quiet and quaint. Being in the castle is amazing but the surrounding area is equally as enchanting. There are paths through the forest, a river nearby, ancient ruins, intricate wood carvings, and even horses. Food was delicious and the staff were excellent. We really enjoyed talking to the late bartender after dinner.

Beautiful castle to stay in, lovely food and a nice comfortable bar & also very nice staff who couldn't do enough for you. Also there is a lovely walk along the river where you can take some nice photos.

Great venue, lovely restaurant. We were here for dinner last Friday evening. The menu was impressive and all courses turned out to be exceptionally well presented. The staff were excellent and attentive. In particular Mairead catered for our every need. A memorable dining experience had by all. We'll definitely return again and soon.
