I had a lovely dinner here on Tuesday night with my family after happening across the restaurant on google. We ordered the salmon, risotto, pesto pasta, and some appetizers that were absolutely delicious. Our server Emma was a delight and we shared some wonderful conversation toward the end of our meal. We left satisfied and smiling, we’ll be back for more.

Let's talk about Sophie's! I recently checked out Sophie's, the rooftop restaurant at the Dean Hotel in Galway, and let me tell you, the views alone are worth the trip. Located at 78 Prospect Hill, it's super easy to find.
Sophie's rocks a trendy and inviting vibe, perfect for a relaxed meal with friends or even a slightly fancy date night. The menu is New York-inspired, and they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so you've got options galore. Budget-wise, you're looking at around $20-$30 per person, which feels pretty reasonable for what you get.
Now, let's get to the good stuff – the food! I started with the "Sophie's Full Irish" breakfast plate, and it was a total winner. They are also known for their famous chicken wings, rich espresso, thick and creamy soup, tasty calzone and mouthwatering lamb, which I will try the next time I am in town for dinner.
One thing to note: if you're used to super speedy American service, things might feel a tad slower here. But honestly, with that view, who's in a rush? Just sit back, relax, and soak it all in.
Overall, Sophie's is a solid choice if you're in Galway and looking for a meal with a view. The food's good, the atmosphere is great, and that cityscape is unforgettable. Definitely worth checking out!

Only had drinks and they were made in a timely manner as well as refreshing and delicious. Service was 50/50, some staff were putting their best foot forward and served with a smile however a member of staff had evident scowls, job offers pop up on their Apple Watches during service and disinterest in specific orders/requests. Would recommend to others for an upscaled drinking experience.

Had an amazing dinner with such lovely food tonight at the Dean in Sophie’s Restaurant. The waiter Nico was so attentive to our requests, gave us a tip of going outside to admire the sunset before our dessert, a touch that made us feel so special. The host on duty Karina came in person to make sure we were having the best experience even though the restaurant was packed, which means the place is in such a level of service that make your meal a special occasion even if it’s not your birthday or anniversary. Food was beautifully presented and seasoned to a perfect point. Can’t wait to go back and enjoy the nice vibe and great atmosphere at the best rooftop in the west of Ireland.

Could be a 5 star experience with a little more effort. Ate at Sophie’s 2 nights this week whilst staying at the hotel.
First night Starters great but Pizza came out late & luke warm as if sitting around for ages & side salad didn’t turn up until we had nearly finished Pizza so sent it back. Also had to ask twice for side plates as sharing a Pizza. Staff member seemed not bothered & didn’t even apologise.
Second Night my steak arrived cold so sent back. Side of beans & onions arrived without an onion in sight so sent back also.
Second steak nicely cooked & hot & beans & onion dish very tasty. Must say one of best steaks i’ve ever tasted.
Just a shame couldn’t get it right first time.
Some staff training required ..relayed above to manager on duty.
A shout out to Rochelle for her bubbliness & Suzana for her pleasantness!

We are familiar with the brand from Dublin, so we decided to try Sophie’s in Galway during our visit. The service was good, and the food was delightful. One aspect we particularly appreciated was the distinct menu compared to the Dublin location, which made the experience feel fresh and unique.
We sampled the Antipasti platter, Burrata, and Mozzarella Pizza – all of which were superb. A highlight of the meal was discovering olive oil matured in sherry casks; it was so intriguing that I promptly ordered a bottle from Amazon to enjoy at home!
The only minor flaw in the experience was the sugar on the crème brûlée, which had been burnt to the point of being blackened and bitter. I brought this to the attention of the staff, but it did detract somewhat from the dessert's appeal.
Overall, it was a good experience, albeit not exceptional. We plan to explore other restaurants in Galway before revisiting Sophie’s. Should you have any recommendations for dining spots in the area, do share!
