Came here to research 'the Arctic unsung Heto' Tom Crean, 15 years of planning, and definitely didn't disappoint. Not just a bar, but a historical account of Tom's adventures...photos, diaries, a real dream of a pub, but laced in history. But don't forget to open the window before you leave! You have to.🥶
A very much good experience to be in a place full of history. This pub was founded by Thomas Crean, who participated in I’ve the Schackleton’s expedition. I had the opportunity of reading about this adventure, and it was fantastic to discover the place where a member of the crew lived. I profited to buy a book which is a biography of the original owner of the placê.
07/05/2025: We happened in on a night when the South Pole Inn was closed for a menu change. In spite of the place being understaffed, the young and beautiful Aimee put on a brave face and hosted the entire pub like a seasoned veteran. The pizza was worth the wait and the camaraderie with the other patrons was lovely. Absolutely recommend.
30/04/2025: Lovely get together in a nice setting. The group was very pleased with the chicken tender and chips, pizza, and the cottage pie. Myself being a coeliac ( gluten free) had goats cheese salad and a pizza, toppings substituted to suite. The cottage pie was also gluten free. Choice of two delicious deserts, gluten free brownie being one option and it was lovely.
