A treasure trove of momentos of the expeditions of Tom Crean and a great place to stop for a rest, on your own travels. I've enjoyed spending time at the South Pole Inn on a couple of occasions and I'll be back there again before too long. Highly recommended.
This was our second visit to The South Pole Inn.
We visited with CIE's Scots Irish Tour.
We don't drink coffee, but if you put whiskey and whipped cream in it to make an Irish Coffee ... I'll drink coffee! Whee!
I love the story telling and the fun window to the pole. The people there are always wonderful and I just love looking around at the things they have on display there.
Outside, there was a group of school children playing near the water. I got to touch the water! Whee!

We enjoyed a nice atmosphere and dinner at the South Pole Inn. The service was very friendly and quick as well. The vegan casserole was a tasty vegetarian option and well seasoned!
This is definitely one of a kind. Very atmospheric in the main pub. Loads of stuff about Tom Crean who I admit I had never heard of. We sat at a high table next to the bar and were very well served. The fish and chips were excellent. Desserts though were not as good- apple pie needs to be hot and the cheesecake was way too sweet.
08/11/2025: Was redirected to patcheens after attempting foleys which stopped food for the season. Very glad it came recommended so we didnt have yo go all the way into dingle proper for a meal. Great cozy atmosphere, some table games for kids, tvs around to show the game, delicious pizza and wings! And top notch service 👌 you can also carry out cans as they have a off license attached. Tucked away in a sleepy quiet town but very much worth a stop in if looking for good atmosphere and delicious grub
27/08/2025: A great pub to add to your list to visit in anascaul, lovely food on offer and good quirky decor. Not as big as some but plenty of seating areas.
