Strand Tavern in Duncannon

Great place to go to. The portions are quite big, prices are quite reasonable (10-20€/person for a meal), especially for starters and light grabs. Nice atmosphere with great window views!

The food here is fantastic. Smoked salmon was very tasty and locally produced. The fish and chips again were locally caught, crisp batter and a huge portion, there is an option for a larger portion for only an extra €4. Friendly staff and an excellent local IPA, yellow belly, make this an excellent choice for dinner.

Got the chicken salad and some chips to share, all the food was delicious and clearly home made. Would recommend to anyone in the area. Also quite inexpensive!

Arrived at the (only half full) restaurant having booked well in advance and were shown to probably the worst table in the building. It was a beautiful sunny evening but where we were sitting was so dark and dingy. I’ve attached a photo of the view while I was eating dinner. We asked if we could move but was told the other tables were all booked. The service was efficient but not overly friendly. The food was good but I just couldn’t enjoy it as much as we should so we ate up quickly, paid the bill, and left. The restaurant was still only half full.

Visited late on a Sunday evening. The kitchen had closed, but they were able to make something quick, which was much appreciated!

The food here was incredible. The chicken strips, as well as the curry were amazing. The service was brilliant, and the place had a great vibe. We went there midweek and the place was packed. I definitely recommend eating at The Strand Tavern. The Guinness was poured perfectly too.
