Tābú in Thomastown

Always delicious and exciting variety of dishes, my favourite food spot in Kilkenny!

If you go down the side of the main restaurant Tabu, you will find this little gem of a place. The food was so flavourful and fresh, we were very surprised to find a place like this in such a small town. The staff, in particular the owner, were delightful and very attentive. If you are in the area make sure to give it a shot!

Excellent food for guests in the area who what a diversion from Irish/ British food. Differentiated and flavorful. Especially for Indian and other demographics in the area. Great alternative if you are staying at Mount Juliet Estates

It was something truly special. Delicious food with influences from all over the world. Good value for money and generous portions. The warmth and friendliness of the owner and his team made it a truly special experience. It's a shame we were only in the area for a holiday. I would love to come back again and again.

Myself and my fiancée had dinner here to celebrate our anniversary. The building is very nice and is in a lovely little town. The building and decoration inside is very nice and feels very cosy. We ordered the Beef Takaki, Paratas Bravas, Fish Tacos, Broccoli and the Crunch Salmon Roll. We didn’t have to wait long for the food to arrive and everything was absolutely fantastic. Our favorite was definitely the Beef Takaki, it was everything from salty, savory, meaty and tender but it was closely followed by the Sushi Rolls. Everything was so tasty that when you are eating one bit of food you are already looking and thinking about what to eat next. We would definitely recommend having dinner here if you are looking for food, we stayed in Kilkenny town and drove out for dinner here and it was 100% worth it. We would advise booking in advance. Also finally a note on the staff, they were all lovely, friendly and very quick to come to our table to ask for the order, drinks and anything else. I had a request for something small to celebrate our anniversary and when we ordered dessert we had a strawberry with a candle in it which was the perfect little touch to finish the evening so thank you to the staff for that!

Edit to review below: Still a nice place, the staff are lovely and very accommodating but the food has dropped in quality and choice, particularly for vegetarian and gluten-free. Maybe we arrived on an "off-day". The staff tell us that the menu changes often and so perhaps there will be more choice next time 🤞🏻. Prior Review: Superb food, vegetarian and gluten free tapas available in addition to meat and seafood based. Desserts are gorgeous as are the cocktails .The staff are friendly and attentive and the venue is comfortable with a good atmosphere. If the weather allows, you can take a dog (go in the back way) and eat al fresco. Altogether fantastic, I will be back 😀

Beautiful food, fantastic atmosphere and amazing staff

A number of my family visited this tapas restaurant on a busy Friday evening following a funeral in Thomastown. We were lucky enough to secure a table for ten as a walkin. The restaurant was busy and had a nice atmosphere. The waiting staff were busy and worked well together with the barman serving customers promptly. The service was also attentive and courteous. All the dishes were served quickly and looked delicious. All the elements were nicely prepared and cooked well. We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal here.

Amazing evening wirh an awesome team and great food

Absolutely amazing spot for a bite with the girls. We love the food and always have a fun night. Great atmosphere, great food and drink and the staff are up for a laugh too. Which is always good.
