The rooms are OK and the food is good but the hallways and the stairs look like something from a scary movie and the dirt of them they really need to fix that and move the smoking area because it take the look off the front.
Don't think I would stay here again but I would go for food but that's about it

Great spot for a bite to eat or a prolonged stay. Service was a bit slow but I'll put that down to new staff. Otherwise a great place to stay.

Nice pleasant hotel with a pool.
Stayed Valentines night and enjoyed a gorgeous meal and delicious cocktails..
Also have nice jewelery for sale at the reception, frosty couture I believe is the name.
Also conveniently next to The Dome so you won't be short of entertainment.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at The Talbot Hotel Carlow, and I can confidently say it was an experience to remember. From the moment we arrived, the warmth and hospitality of the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed, setting the tone for a fantastic stay.
We stayed in the Killeshin Suite, and it was nothing short of luxurious. The suite had its own entrance hall, a beautifully designed living room with a flat-screen TV, and a separate, spacious bedroom featuring a super king-sized bed and another flat-screen TV—perfect for when my partner wanted to catch up on sports while I enjoyed my own programmes. The thoughtful welcome chocolates and greeting card left in the suite were a lovely touch, making us feel instantly valued as guests.
The attention to detail extended to the bathroom, where the fabulous waterfall shower was an absolute treat. The fluffy bathrobes and slippers added an extra level of comfort, making it feel like a true home away from home.
We dined in the restaurant, and the food was nothing short of exceptional. Every dish was beautifully prepared, full of flavour, and served by the most welcoming staff. Their passion for hospitality was evident in every interaction, making our meal all the more enjoyable.
The following morning, we took full advantage of the swim/spa area, enjoying a refreshing swim, followed by a relaxing sauna and steam session. It was the perfect way to start the day before indulging in a delicious breakfast that left us more than satisfied. The later checkout was also a welcome luxury, allowing us to savour the experience just a little bit longer.
A special thank you to the wonderful team at The Talbot Carlow. I want to give particular recognition to Kelly in reservations, Kerri at check-in, and Danielle and Sarah at reception. Their warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail truly made a lasting impression. They are a credit to the hotel and embody the high standards of service that make The Talbot stand out.
Having worked in the hospitality and accommodation industry for years, I can confidently say that The Talbot Hotel Carlow is more than just a building—it’s the heart of Carlow, offering an experience that stays with you long after you leave. I’ll most certainly be back, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious, welcoming, and truly memorable stay.

I’m currently staying at the Talbot this my second week . The first week everything was perfect nice room good facility,
friendly staff.
When I was checking out last week I told about a promotion for Jan only 15% of with Breakfast. I informed the member of staff that I wouldn’t have time for Breakfast. No problem they’ll make up a takeaway for you . I was quoted 95 euros .
When it came to booking it couldn’t find it any where , speaking to the hotel the best they could offer me was 99 euros without Breakfast.
Yesterday I had my evening meal in the restaurant, fairly busy , but still comfortable and a nice atmosphere .
To-night how ever was a different story , I arrived two people before me and the one after me were shown into the restaurant. I was put into the cafe . I ordered the Kilmore Quay Beer Battered Cod when it arrived the staff asked me did I ordered the fish & chips .
The area I was in was cold and close to self service area. The atmosphere was one of listening to the staff shouting other guest food orders .
In the restaurant when you paid by card they bring the machine to your table . In the cafe area you have to follow the staff to the cash register

Firstly the staff are absolutely phenomenal and more than made our experience.
Bar is a beautiful space, food was ok, very reasonably priced - especially the kids menu. Again staff fantastic, what a hard working bunch.
The rooms were a nice size but cleanliness wasn't on point. Hairs in the tub, stains on the bed throws, bin not emptied, mould and general wear and tear.
