The Brasserie in Cork

Had a delicious Saturday lunch and wonderful service by our waiter Thabo. Attended to quickly and loved the menu options. But the state of the restaurant toilets and aesthetics for a 4star hotel was appalling hence my low rating. The restaurant chairs were old and stained and the toilets were worse than a public toilet. The food was really the saving grace but the dining experience itself wasn’t great

Buzzing place was mostly full so it took about 10mins for someone attend us. I went with family and was seated on a place which seemed to have segregated as a family space which was ok. I ordered vegan pizza which was a big let down the pizza was not cooked properly and cheese was not melted even 50p.c. chicken croquettes and garlic bread was ok but given the price I would have atleast expected it to be good. The main highlight was the sauce given for chicken chimchurri which was excellent and recommended The person in the bar was very good and did excellent job.

We struggled a little by the limited options on the menu. For starters we had a generous sized but very bland chicken caesar salad dish (whose chicken was either processed sliced chicken or microwaved) something was amiss, and a large peach ( segments from a tin ) and avocado salad. The dressing on the latter was needed to give it some element of taste. Of the main courses the vegetarian pizza and rotisserie chicken stood out and got a big thumbs up but the enormous and generously sized fish, chip and peas plate was let down by the heavily breaded nature of the fish and tasteless chips. We saw a medley of deserts on an adjoining table that looked appetising but we were so underwhelmed by what we had up to that point that we decided on another desert option elsewhere. No complaints about the staff who were friendly and prompt and it is a lovely spacious venue but a hotel restaurant should be producing a much better effort on a plate than this. Was expecting so much more. It was a case of quantity over quality of food that disappointed. Sorry guys!!

Friendly staff and relatively fast service. Decent seafood chowder.
