We had booked the Courtyard bar for day two of our wedding and we couldn't have picked a better venue. It's a lovely, bright and modern bar. The staff are extremely friendly and nothing was an issue. The food was amazing, we went for the BBQ option and it was possibly the nicest burger, chips & salad I ever had in my life!! Everyone was complimenting the food afterwards and there was plenty of it for seconds too. It was a bar that catered for all age groups and would highly recommend!

A surprising find through an alley. Lots of space and a really nice terrace. Part covered so ideal if (if?😁) it rains.

We stopped in at The Courtyard Bar when we arrived in Clonakilty late last evening, just to see if someone could give us directions to the “off the beaten path“ Airbnb we had booked or use their Wi-Fi to figure it out ourselves, as Google Maps was not working on our US cell phone service’s “international plan” (!!!) When we explained our situation, a lovely man at the bar (didn’t get his name) sensed our frustration, immediately invited us to have a seat, offered to get us a coffee, and helped us connect to their Wi-Fi. He then looked at the Airbnb information and asked several coworkers if they had any idea where it was located. No one recognized the place based on the info we had, but he offered that when he got off work in half an hour, he would be happy to punch the postcode into his GPS and lead us to it. At that point, we were exhausted, jetlagged, and frustrated after a very long day of driving from Dublin airport down the coast to Clonakilty without GPS. After looking again at the info from the Airbnb host, we decided to try one more time to find it ourselves and, fortunately, succeeded. Today, we went back to The Courtyard Bar for lunch, hoping to see the lovely guy who had been so helpful and thank him again. He wasn’t there, but just wanted to post this positive review to say how incredibly friendly and helpful he was. Also had a very nice lunch – good food, friendly welcoming atmosphere, and incredibly thoughtful and helpful staff!

20/10/2024: Great local pub, friendly staff and delicious food. Visiting West Cork in the winter? Stop here for a pint of Guinness by the fire. The steak is a must. Desserts are fab also!

Market House Restaurant

12/10/2024: Fabulous dining experience, full house on a Saturday night provided for a lovely atmosphere helped by laid back, pleasant, friendly staff who were well trained and super at what they do. Great building with old style large shopfront windows. BYO policy at no extra charge which is pretty unique! Every dish was fresh & delicious, mussels, sea bream, haddock, beef all cooked and presented to perfection. Totally enjoyable evening finished off nicely with a reasonable bill. Definitely recommend.
16/09/2024: Fabulous restaurant in the picturesque setting of Rosscarbery village with large windows to take it in and we had the perfect table inside the window to enjoy it. We were advised on arrival of the BYO policy with local pubs happily allowing takeaway drinks to the restaurant or shop with off licence a few doors away. Complimentary delicious bread was served immediately which is becoming more of a rarity. The BYO is also complimentary even though they chill your beers and supply wine coolers and glasses at your table. We started with mussels and portobello mushrooms, our mains included haddock, crayfish & a slow cooked beef pasta dish finishing off with yummy desserts. Each dish and mouthful was cooked to perfection and so flavoursome. Roast veg were served with mains, water bowls not forgotten with mussels, food and service was perfection. Finally the dreaded part

the bill but this was almost as good as the food!!! This restaurant is extremely well priced, something we don’t see these days

.value for money offering superb quality food and pleasant service in a really nice atmosphere makes for a night out that you’ll want to and can afford to repeat several times. Highly highly recommend.
