The Dungeon in Cong

The Dungeon is another restaurant at Ashford Castle and a completely different experience from the more formal places. It has the atmosphere of a traditional Irish pub — very relaxed, cozy and absolutely casual. No need to dress up at all, which is actually very nice for a change. The food was really delicious. We ate very well and the service was excellent too. And of course I have to mention the onion rings — my favourite — they were absolutely excellent! 😄 One important thing: definitely book in advance. The restaurant is quite small and there are not many tables, so it can easily be full. We really enjoyed our dinner here. Simple, cozy, very Irish, great service and very good food. Definitely recommend it during your stay at Ashford Castle! Absolutely worth trying, especially if you want a relaxed and casual evening
