The Grainne Uaile in Newport

Wonderful food, great staff and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We spent three days in Newport and enjoyed fabulous meals each day at the Grainne Uaile. Such a warm but also very professional atmosphere. The food was outstanding and the welcome from the whole team was amazing. A little gem of a place.

I have passed this pub on many occasions. Buti decided to stop and try it to see what it was like. I was not disappointed from the warm greeting on arrival from the 2 girls behind the bar. The food was excellent and the service was second to none.

Beautiful food, traditional recipies cooked well using quality ingredients and lots of flavour. Staff were friendly professiona and down to earth. Will definitely return.

The staff are lovely. The pints are good. The atmosphere and banter with the locals was spot on. The food was okay but a little overpriced and the quality & portions could be improved on. I had the mussels, potato skins and chicken wings. All good except that the 1 potato skin I received was a poor size portion for the price. My wife had the chicken curry but the flavour was seriously lacking and it was "McDonnell's" curry sauce out of a packet. Any chef worth their salt should be whipping up a batch curry from scratch. If they can't do that, they shouldn't be in the kitchen. Get rid! I was happy enough but not full so unfortunately it was not value for money.

Great pub restaurant, tasty food and plenty of it. Friendly staff.

Nice place! Playground visible just out front so bébé got to play with Grandma while I got to take a quick break on our roadtrip. (Gin & tonic ended up my go-to unless I was drinking Beamish or Murphys.) Sept 13, 2024.

Nice, typical pub with good, home-style cooking. The crab open sandwich was delicious.

A nice pub and restaurant only stopped for a drink. Enjoyed it.
