The Grattan in Waterford

We got got to experience what a true Irish pub is like. Melisa and Martha’s hospitality alone is worth our return. The environment was perfect (and clean). The best bonus is THE FOOD!!! The best food we ate in all of Ireland! I wanted to finish my plate so I could get a cheer from Melisa, but the space I needed for the Banoffee Pie was more important!! Waterford will always be on our itinerary solely because of The Grattan Bar!

First of all, the hosts are just simply brilliant , second, food that they make is delicious . I had a prawns salad, and it was just great. Very friendly atmosphere , would recommend it 100%

Wonderful spot in Waterford with the best, most welcoming owner in Ireland. We had pints and food which were excellent and they were incredibly accommodating with our requests for horse racing on the TVs. Right across the bridge from the train station and you have to add it to your must visit list!

What a fantastic neighborhood pub! From the moment we walked through the door, we were welcomed with such warmth and hospitality—it genuinely felt like being embraced by family. We ordered the Irish stew and a prawn salad, and both dishes exceeded our expectations. The stew was hearty and flavorful, the kind that warms you from the inside out, and the prawn salad was fresh, well-prepared, and perfectly balanced. We've been driving around Ireland for the past few days, exploring different towns and trying out various pubs along the way. Without a doubt, this has been the best one we've visited. It stood out not only for the quality of the food but also for its genuine, down-to-earth charm. Unlike some of the more touristy spots we've encountered, this pub felt real—a true local gem. If you're looking to experience an authentic Irish pub with exceptional food and a welcoming vibe, this is the place to go. Highly recommended!

Amazing staff. Food was delicious. Lovely cosy restaurant.

We stopped in for some food before boarding our train. The staff was very friendly and made us feel right at home. The food was delicious. We had the prawn salad and the turkey and ham. Portion sixes were generous. Both dishes were far superior to your average pub food. We look forward to our next visit.

Staff is friendly and helpful. My son and I went for dinner. At the entrance we where welcomed. I had the buggy with me, and there was a gentleman that helped me at the door. My son made friends with the bartender and even went to sit at the bar. Food was amazing. I had the stew. I can't remember if I ever had such delicious stew in my life. I am definitely coming back to work through the menu. Will definitely recommend this place for food and drink. Thank you for having us.

I’ve lived in Ireland almost 5 years and this is the kind of service that should represent Ireland. Never been here before but treated like an old friend and food that’s tastes like it’s fresh from the farm and made with love. Came here because of the reviews. It didn’t disappoint. Will be back!
