The Grattan in Waterford

A lovely warm Irish welcome which was well received and the food was fabulous. I opted for the bacon and cabbage and a pint of Guinness. A lovely atmosphere and so friendly.

This place is wonderful!! I had the Traditinal Irish Stew, which was perfectly seasoned. Staff we're very welcoming and friendly. If you are in the area, I cannot recommend this place enough! I hope to one day be able to return.

You read these fantastic reviews about places and when you arrive there they don't for you stand up. Well in the case of this bar restaurant they most certainly do. I ate there for three nights and had three different dishes. Each one was excellent and you certainly won't be leaving the place hungry. Everything is freshly cooked. I had the roast beef on the 1st night which was excellent with a large helping of mash potatoes topped with tender beef slices. A good selection of vegetables and a couple of roast potatoes thrown in for good measure, the chicken curry on the 2nd night served with beautiful light Basmati rice. The curry sauce was lovely and the chicken was lovely and tender. I would have loved a few vegetables to have been included in the dish but the dish came only with chicken. It did come with a large piece of Bhakri bread. Also you could have this dish with half rice and half chips. Their chips are only to die for. On the last day I went for the Striploin steak with mushrooms and onions, a generous basket of their lovely chips, and a medium size beautifully cooked steak. The pepper sauce was served in a separate jug. Martha and other staff members were lovely and had a word for everyone. The place is spotless and if you have food allergies this definitely is the place for you as they will do their very best to cater for your needs. I am joining their many 5 star ratings as it certainly deserves each and every one.

If i could put a 6.0 i would! Outstanding the roast beef, fish and chips, and bacon and cabbage so so good! The guinness the best!

A Slice of Home in the Heart of Waterford The bacon and cabbage at The Geattan was the best I’ve had in ages—it truly reminded me of my grandmother’s cooking. Absolutely fantastic. It wasn’t just a meal; it was a feeling of home. And the staff? As warm and welcoming as only the Irish can be. From the moment you walk in, you’re made to feel like part of the family. It genuinely hurt to leave this pub—such a cozy, heart-filled place full of flavour and kindness. Thank you for a memorable evening. I’ll definitely be back!

In this bar I ate the best ham and cabbage EVER, and the barkeeper is the most friendly lad i met so far in Ireland, it fehlt like home, they treat you like old friends even though they just met you. highly recommended.

Do not let the outside fool you. The bartender provided amazing service and was warm and welcoming. The lamb stew was absolutely the best meal we had in Ireland. There were kids menu items available as well. It definitely was the best meal we enjoyed.

What a fun place to eat! It seemed like a good mix of locals and tourist. The service was excellent and the owners were very engaging with all patrons. Get the Irish stew and you will not be disappointed.

Staff is friendly and helpful. My son and I went for dinner. At the entrance we where welcomed. I had the buggy with me, and there was a gentleman that helped me at the door. My son made friends with the bartender and even went to sit at the bar. Food was amazing. I had the stew. I can't remember if I ever had such delicious stew in my life. I am definitely coming back to work through the menu. Will definitely recommend this place for food and drink. Thank you for having us.
