The Half Barrel in Whitegate

After a long journey to Ireland, this was our first stop, and we were so thrilled to find delicious food, great and friendly service, and above all, that unique, authentic Irish atmosphere at Half Barrel. If it weren't so far away, we would definitely be regulars :-)

Very friendly local pub serving excellent food. Staff were more than willing to adapt the menu to accommodate dietary needs. Absolutely no problem and all with a big smile and superb service. Great recommendation from our Airbnb host nearby.

Best chicken wings I ever had 🤩

Staying in the area on our trip around southern Ireland and this place was recommended by our host. It didn't disappoint, it was the best meal we've had so far, the staff were really friendly, the bar full of atmosphere and they went out of their way to accommodate my gluten and dairy free dietry requirements. I would definitely return again.

On holidays in Clare. We ate in the Half Barrel a few times. Food was good, service was good. A nice place. I will be back.

Top quality traditional Irish food, bacon, cabbage and mash. Proper grub. Lovely. Guinness good. And nice atmosphere.

It's a cute place with lovely staff and locals, great food as well. Can only recommend going there if you are in the area.
