My wife & I stayed mid August 2023 - Location of hotel beautiful - bedroom was clean & had a glorious view over the harbour - based on reviews we booked the restaurant for both evenings - we found the food to be average & pricey - vegetable portions were miniscule - On our second evening we were given a small tureen with 3 small baby potatoes and one tiny one plus small portion of carrots & green beans and 2 tiny scraps of broccoli - to share! The senior waitress asked if we wanted "more veg" - we said please - about 10 minutes later our empty tureen was removed - About another 10 to 15 later ( as our plates were almost empty) the waitress passed our table quickly dropping a small plate of chips on the table without saying a word. Really poor service & value. A shame because other staff were pleasant & obliging.

04/04/2024: We spent 4 nights at the Maldron Parnell Square Hotel. The location is ideal, 15-20 minutes walk from the center. A bus stop is a minute's walk from the hotel. The bus that brought us from the airport dropped us off there. Very warm welcome at the hotel, clean and comfortable room. We could hear the street from our room. The breakfast is exceptional!!!! Really good and very varied: savory side: Sausages, fried egg, grilled tomatoes, white beans in tomato sauce, mushrooms.... On the sweet side: several types of bread, croissants, chocolatines, cakes, cereals, porridge on request and so on! We had dinner 2 evenings at the hotel, very good, however, although there were not many people, the service was long!! More than half an hour waiting for a dish... too bad. Otherwise nothing to complain about! I recommend!
03/04/2024: Good quality. Good service. Good breakfast. Good location. Next time I just have to remember to bring my own brush for the toilet for 1 euro. ; ) (Suggestion for improvement checked?) ---- Addition to the review after last evening. I tried the bar and discovered that it was a bar without a trained bartender, who spent 10 minutes struggling with the consistency of the cocktail in the mixer after studying the operating instructions for the Strawberry Daiquiri. (That's what happens when you only mix ice cream with rum and syrup)... then it was difficult to spoon the whole thing out of the mixer. Has anyone seen a barman take the entire cocktail out of the mixer with a spoon because it won't pour out and is stuck in the mixer? At least there was a free drink as compensation.
