The Hungry Monk in Greystones

We visit every time we are in Ireland. Love, love! Definitely a must if you are south of Dublin.

We had a remarkable and memorable meal with Julian and his family and staff. The wine was excellent. The appetizers - crispy herb and feta croquettes and nduja sausage bruschetta - were flavorful and creative. The halibut was cooked to perfection. The start of the night was the red wine braised beef pie of the day - this dish will not soon be forgotten. The entire experience was wonderful!

BURGER 🍔 An unusual place, quite dark and cramped. I was disappointed that I didn't receive information about additional dishes than those on the menu. I read online about the possibility of sampling regional flavors... I decided on a burger, even though I wasn't really in the mood for one. The portion was large, and the meat was well-done. It was okay, but nothing special, and it was expensive! We tried the breaded mushrooms as an appetizer (the breading was crispy, not greasy! They were okay, but be warned, they're mushrooms). The calamari was also delicious. Om

The restaurant made a very good impression on us, primarily due to its unusual, somewhat mysterious decor. The interior is dimly lit, filled with wooden elements and distinctive decorations, and Gregorian music plays in the background, perfectly fitting the name and character of this place. Real candles burn on the tables, giving the whole place a very cozy and unique atmosphere. The drinking water, which is regularly refilled without having to ask for another glass, is also a big plus. The service is very friendly and pleasant. The waiters are attentive, asking if everything is to your liking, and really making you feel well-cared for. As for the food, we tried the burger, the tempura calamari, and the mushroom patties. Everything was delicious, fresh, and well-prepared. The dishes were also served relatively quickly, which is another plus. What we'll remember most, however, is the atmosphere of this place; it's completely different from your typical restaurant. A bit mysterious, a bit monastic, very atmospheric, and definitely distinctive. If you're in Greystones, it's worth a visit, not just for the food, but for the experience itself.

Excellent food, friendly professional service and great value

The Hungry Monk is one of the best places to eat in Greystones. The food was absolutely delicious, with fresh, high-quality ingredients and beautifully presented dishes. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, making it perfect for both a casual meal and a special occasion. Great service, excellent food, and a lovely dining experience overall. I would definitely recommend it and look forward to returning

Best restaurant in Greystones. Loved it. Great food, great service and very comfortable. My husband had the lamb shanks, I had the chicken curry, both were great.
