The Mad Monk by Quinlans in Killarney

I can’t decide if this is the best meal that I’ve had in Ireland or the best meal I’ve ever had. It's a tough call. Great service, great atmosphere.

Tonight's meal at Mad Monk was fantastic! The service staff were all very friendly and welcoming and were very helpful with information about the dishes. We tried the scallops, hake, fish & chips and for dessert we had the apple & rhubarb crumble and pannacotta. All of the food was excellent quality, with fresh locally sourced ingredients. The scallops were big and juicy, very full of flavour. Fish & chips were some of the best I've had, so crispy and light with the batter. I'm not a big dessert eater, but both of the desserts were excellent! The whole meal was fantastic from start to finish, and it's a lovely spot to share a meal. Definitely would recommend a meal here if you are passing through on your trip through Ireland.

This is my regular whenever I'm in Killarney. I had salmon recently and was disappointed with the portion size compared to the price point. My mother had fish and chips and she picked the right one on the menu. Onions rings are to die for. I will be back but will avoid the salmon.

We had a wonderful time at this restaurant; from the appetizers to the dessert, everything was delicious, especially the fish and chips. The servers were all extremely friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Thank you to the whole team! :)

Outstanding seafood restaurant with excellent service. We went on two consecutive nights, highlights were Seabass, Octopus and Crab Bake. Not to be missed when visiting Killarney.

The food was top quality, although the salmon portion was a bit small! The ambiance was lovely! The highlight was the view into the kitchen/pastry area where the food was prepared with great care!

Both Lamb and sea food excellent. Staff professional and very friendly, suggestions were the right choice. Ambient pleasant, nice music in the background. Vine recommended, not at the level of the food.
