Had a wonderful dining experience. The fish was cooked perfectly — absolutely no complaints. The staff were very polite, attentive, and made us feel very welcome.
I would highly recommend the pan-roasted fillet of hake, the pan-roasted fillet of sea bass, and the wild Atlantic squid. Each dish was excellently cooked, full of flavour, and the squid in particular was tender with no chew at all, which is not easy to get right.
Overall, a fantastic meal and I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Sticky toffee pudding was absolutely delicious. Sea bass risotto was excellent. And the fried calamari with sweet chilli jam was a star. 5 stars all around!!

Really great dinner here. Staff were so so lovely and catered very well for allergies as one of the group was a coeliac and one lactose intolerant. Lots of gluten free options!

There were four of us for dinner. We were given a table upstairs. The other tables were also occupied, but the noise level was reasonable and we felt comfortable. The waiter was always very attentive and his service was consistently good. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the food. We ordered the halibut twice, the 60oz steak once, and the mussels. The mussels were very good and can be highly recommended. The halibut, however, was a disaster. The first time it was cooked, and then again in the pan. The side dishes were also very meager: three small halved potatoes, a sliver of vegetables, and a dill crust that was practically nonexistent. The only highlight was the delicious sauce. Charging €36 for it could at least be considered unreasonable. The steak was neither juicy nor tender. Charging €38 for it leaves a bad taste in the mouth. We shared our criticisms and praise with our waiter after the meal. He rightly pointed out that it was a bit late for that now. However, we weren't looking for an exchange or a discount, but simply for feedback so that improvements could be made in these areas in the future.

We had high hopes for our meal at The Mad Monk but it was so disappointing. The menu is fantastic and the atmosphere in the restaurant was good. However the service wasn't great (waiter not attentive) and slow and the meal was decidedly average. I ordered octopus which wasn't cooked brilliantly and there was so much of it which wouldn't have been a problem except that there was hardly any accompanying potato/veg/sauce. It was a special and the whole dish just didn't work - maybe I got unlucky.

We were on vacation in the city and came to this place for oysters. The pros: the oysters were fresh and delicious.
The cons: the oysters were so open that we had to constantly spit out the shell fragments, which didn't allow us to fully enjoy the delicacy.
No sauce spoon was provided. Napkins were only provided under the cutlery.
