The Old Thatch in Killeagh

Got a table on short notice on Easter Sunday, Steak Sandwich and a Roast both fantastic.

Most certainly filled me was quite impressed as bar food goes most homely environment very cozy effect and positive atmosphere highly recommended for those in the locality or passing 🙌

Just popped in for a late breakfast. Very nice breakfast. Great service and friendly staff. It was quiet as we were between breakfast and lunch, but as we were leaving, it was filling up. We have eaten here in the evening before and it is very good.

To call the seafood chowder good would be an insult. I generally don’t have any significant reaction to food, but I was taken aback by how incredible the chowder was. So good in fact, I actually had to come back later that same day for another serving. Do yourself a favor and stop by for a big bowl and a pint. (The serving size was impressive too)

Food was definitely below par but the pub itself was very good 👍 Had the steak which was OK ish , but re heated chips and chewy steak wasn't to be expected for almost €30 below pic are my chips V my partners . Her's were fresh where mine were reheated

Nice little place to stop in and have a bite to eat.

Gone down hill. Did it change ownership ? Staff are still lovely and it has a welcoming atmosphere. Food wise has definitely gone down hill. We visited twice in January going to Cork Airport. On the way down my husband had the turkey which he said was good. I had the soup and toasted sandwich neither was great. Our 2nd visit my husband had the pork and I had a sirloin steak. Sirloin steak was tough and tasteless and I mentioned it to the waitress I felt dismissed. Sirloin steak in 2025 really, I would have at least expected a striplion or a fillet been offered for the price!!!!

The food, service, atmosphere and staff excel here. I have previously written a review on the Old Thatch many years ago and wish to state that it is as good as it ever was. The fact that there is a constant amount of customers speaks volumes, yet despite being at times extremely busy the food and service is excellent. I would highly recommend a visit here.
