Fantastic homemade food, seafood chowder was amazing!!

While on a recent trip to Ireland we found ourselves going back to The Old Thatch several times. Whether it was the steak sandwich, the cajun chicken or the burgers & chips...it was always fantastic! Sunday in the beer garden was definitely a highlight! The staff was super friendly the beer was cold and clean and the atmosphere was great!!! We'll see you again Old Thatch!!!!

We recently had a meal at The Thatch Restaurant and it was outstanding from start to finish. The food was absolutely amazing—every dish was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and cooked to perfection. The quality and attention to detail really stood out. The staff were equally impressive; they were welcoming, friendly, attentive, and made us feel so well looked after throughout our visit. It was a fantastic dining experience with exceptional food and service. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend The Thatch Restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable meal.

Absolutely delicious food and lovely friendly staff

This place combines very nice aspects with less pleasant ones. First, the positives. The staff are very friendly. The beer garden is lovely, and the nearby river adds a lot of charm. As for the food, I have mixed feelings. The veggie burger was the worst part. I don't mean the bun or the toppings, but the patty itself was terrible. It was extremely spicy, which should be clearly marked on the menu, but besides that, it was just awful. It's obvious it wasn't made in-house and was store-bought, which isn't a problem in itself, but the staff should at least try it. If they did, they definitely wouldn't serve it in their restaurant. The rest of the ingredients were good, but the patty ruined the overall impression. As for the venue itself, it has a nice atmosphere, but some parts need renovation, like the men's restrooms, which are in poor condition. It's a place with potential, but it needs someone to raise its standards. The customer-facing staff are doing what they can, but not everything is up to them.

Food was delicious, staff were very friendly

I got the warm chicken Caesar salad. A very meagre portion showed up with the cos diced very finely, the chicken strips were nearly inedible as they were so dry. My husband got the steak sandwich. He said the meat was okay but the onion and mushrooms were still crunchy! The best part was the ciabatta roll. The fries were unappealing. The waitress appeared inexperienced. I gave feedback about my chicken. Another waitress took one glass of wine off the bill.

Lovely looking building and a fine beer garden. Food isn't great.
