The Red Door Country House in Fahan

I’ve shot several weddings here and the staff and management are always fantastic to work with, attentive to detail, great at keeping the day flowing and the grounds are kept to a high standard and impeccably maintained, the atmosphere is cosy and personal for wedding guests and I haven’t tried the Guinness but it looks amazing. Fridays wedding had adverse weather where it poured down the entire day and management were on the ball with opening areas for me to shoot and super helpful and on hand for any indoor shoot locations! Called in while out for a romantic drive . The food was delicious, and the service was amazing . Friendly and helpful staff 👌. Highly recommended!

I attended a wedding here in October 2024 and it was so amazing I had to write a review. The location is stunning, the grounds are immaculate, the house feels very welcoming and warm with beautiful decor. On top of that, this was hands down the best food I’ve had at a wedding, really fine dining quality. What makes or breaks a place is the staff though and not only were they super efficient and professional, they were all exceptionally nice to deal with. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Attended a wedding there. First, pre wedding was well organised for bride and her retinue. Guests received well by staff. The civil ceremony was excellent. The interval thereafter was entirely applicable to our group and was well served by a gospel choir. The well known Donegal musicians, the Henry Girls, were, as usual superb at the ceremony. Organisation for the wedding meal and seating was fine. The food was excellent. Good choices were available. The later entertainment for dancing was also very good. Lots of parking available and the hotel was situated in a very scenic spot overlooking the Lough.

We visited for an evening meal. As always, plenty of lovely starters, perfect steak followed up by a perfect pistachio cheesecake . The restaurant staff were wonderful and very professional so were the front desk staff. Thank you everyone.

We decided to go for afternoon tea at the Red Door Fahan for a special occasion. There was 5 of us and I have to say it was very disappointing especially the gluten free option which consisted of 3 mini finger sized sandwiches, 2 mini cream filled meringues, 2 mini macaroons and a slice of what I can only describe as gooey/ coco/chocolately flavoured tart which I did not like at all. ( I had taken a photo when the gluten free tray arrived as I couldn't believe how little was served for an afternoon tea. No cream scone that I would have expected for afternoon tea. I did ask the server about my scone and she said there was none and that is why I got the cocoa tart. I would've thought that as this afternoon tea was booked the previous week that there was plenty of notice to make sure that there was a gluten free scone and better selection of tarts. Could I add that the others didn't like their pastries either as they found them to be all chocolately/sugary /gooey consistency and very sweet. The tea arrived luke warm also. All in all very disappointing and definitely not value for money.

Attended a wedding ceremony and reception yesterday and it was simply first class from start to finish. Take a bow Frances and staff 😊😊

We popped in here about a week ago to eat at the bar. We actually sat outside it was so nice. We were so impressed we booked a table for the restaurant last night. The food was delicious with great choice. Vegetarians and vegans are well catered for. Mags and her team looked after us with typical Donegal hospitality.
