I love local bar/restaurant like these - cosy & friendly with great food on offer. We had roast lamb, hake and a kids fish goujons, very generous portions, fresh & very very tasty.

We stayed here for one night in room 4 and had a great nights' sleep. The room was clean, warm, spacious and the beds were very comfy, especially the pillows, had to check what brand they were as they were so lovely! Think it said Dunlopillo? The kids loved sleeping in the big bunkbed.
The owners (Mike and Brid/Breege sorry for any misspelling!) are very friendly and helpful and we got a tasty breakfast (full Irish fry, tea, coffee, juice, cereal and yummy toast with plenty of butter) before we set off. The fry was excellent, just the right amount of everything and the pot of tea was perfect, thank you.
Mike gave us some great local info on the ghost ship and also some really interesting movie history (look up 'Ballybrando' or Holy Mackerel on Youtube!). There's a great black & white photo downstairs of Marlon Brando from the filming in Ballycotton that was never finished, unfortunately.
We would come back to the Schooner for the comfy beds, the yummy fry and for more chats with Mike. Also, the pub was unfortunately closed the night we stayed (winter season opening hours) but it looks like a great spot for pints.

Cosy, welcoming bar/restaurant and accommodation. Very friendly owners. Great food and very good value for Ireland. Nice accommodation at a good price. In the middle of the village and a short drive to lots of places. Highly recommend and would stay and eat again no hesitation. Dinner and breakfast very good.

The Schooner is always our go to place for something to eat.in East Cork. Particularly if it's spur of the moment. We know the food (particularly their fish dishes) will be great and last weekend was no different.
Despite being full and crazy busy, Tina greeted us with a smile and it wasn't long before she found us a spot.
The fish is always so fresh and I opted for the fish goujons. It was devine and so reasonably priced. My other half had the fish of the day.
We had garlicky fried mushrooms to start...so delicious.
Food and service is always great and definitely value for money.
