The Shelbourne in Cork

Stopped by for drinks and Rory came by and recommended a whiskey flight. For someone who enjoys whiskey we had two whiskey flights (6) total whiskeys and we did not like any of them and specifically told Rory what we liked and were disappointed. If you like a specific whiskey don’t waste your time or money on a whiskey flight.

Phenomenal! Based on Google reviews, we went to The Shelbourne to find a whiskey tasting. We arrived when it opened, at 11am on a Saturday, which was a great choice because their whiskey expert spent 90 minutes with us. We gave him a price point, and he pulled 6 whiskeys, some below the price point, some above it, but with the total within our budget. He described all of the whiskeys, talked about how most were extremely hard to find, making the tasting a very special experience. The Midleton Very Rare Dair Ghaelach can be found many places, especially at Jamesons on Bow Street, Dublin or in Midleton near Cork, but it's made in very small batches using Irish Oak. The one we tried at the Shelbourne bar wasn't the same as the one we tried at the end of our trip at Jamesons on Bow Street. We had so much fun at the tasting we returned Saturday evening and found ourselves very entertained by the 7 bartenders working behind the square bar pouring stout and wine and making high-end cocktails. We enjoyed very reasonably priced Teeling small batch as we experienced the energy of a terrific Cork pub on a Saturday night. The Shelbourne was a top 3 highlight of our 10-day trip to Ireland!

We had an absolutely great time for a large birthday booking for food & drinks, one of the best bars in Cork if not Ireland - Rory is a legend and really looked after our whole group, the service from start to end was outstanding, and we felt extremely well looked after by Rory and the whole staff - thank you!

Fantastic pub! Rory is fantastic 🙌 Finest selection of whiskey on the emerald isle. I hope one day they will add Asahi on the tap, to keep Yuma's presence alive 🍺 10/10.

First of all the atmosphere and Customer Service outstanding as always. Superb bar and was always on my recommendation list! However, when l dropped in for a pint last Tues ( Orchard Thieves), l was shocked to pay £7. 10!! Yes l was expected to pay £6. 10.I didnt go elsewhere to compare price. Even the staff member who served me acknowkedged when l said what? Way overpriced in my humble opinion.

Great pub close to the city centre of Cork. Great atmosphere.

Our first stop while in Cork and what a way to start. A beautiful looking bar with fantastic knowledgeable staff who not only keep and serve great drinks but will answer any questions about the area you have. Very much a whisky bar and they have a very wide selection by the way. We tried the stout thirds to see if we could identify them. I got it right and the wife got it wrong haha. Will definitely return and can highly recommended. Thanks for looking after us and see you soon.
