The Smugglers Rest in Clogherhead

The food was amazing especially the ribeye steak . The atmosphere was very cozy. Szacunek.

Delicius food and we loved the sangria. Pub has lovely decoration and nice covered terrace. We highly recommended and we deffo will come back!

Visited the Smugglers Rest for the first time today with my Husband! But it won’t be my last time for sure 👌 we took a drive out from Ashbourne , and found this gem and so glad we did , everything about this place is amazing 🤩 Staff, Service but the most important part is the FOOD !!!! It was next level, the Chef was sitting beside us having his lunch ( a great sign ) You really need to take a trip out here and sample it for yourself ! The menu covers all tastes. I had seafood and it was unreal.

Combined in the industry for 48 years. Wow. After travelling Ireland for a year. Would come back to this area just for the cocktails,food and service. Best in Ireland. Wow. Incredible. Must make it a stop for all tourists to taste the freshest seafood.

We had an exceptional evening at The Smugglers Rest . The hospitality from Matis team was warm and genuine, and Chef Michel delivered truly remarkable dishes. Our spanish waiter Anto impressed us with his deep knowledge of wines and guided us perfectly through the selection. The starters — house‑recommended prawns with garlic, beautifully marinated mussels, and wonderful fresh white bread — were outstanding. For the mains, we enjoyed Rib Eye steaks, filet steaks, and fresh fish with homemade sauces. Every dish was of exceptional quality and prepared with great skill. A fantastic restaurant with top‑tier food, excellent wines, and a team that clearly loves what they do. Highly recommended.
