The Strand Bar in Strandhill

The portion size was big, stadf were friendly. We ordered lamb and beef, beef was perfect and easy to chew, while lamb needed more cooking time as it was hard to even cut! it was a bit dark inside! however, I would recommend this restaurant but wouldn't suggest to order lamb ;) plenty of parking is in strandhill parking which is close to the restaurant

Overall experience was good. The atmosphere was great, interior design is absolutely lovely & cozy. I ordered the Chowder Soup which was fantabulously delicious in the cold weather. However, I also ordered the Powers Irish Coffee (with alcohol), but ended up getting a normal non-alcoholic coffee with cream on top instead (photo attached). It was tasty nonetheless, but I guess the staff mis-heard, and I didn't bother asking the staff to change, which brings me to the next point 👇 During busy times you will have to wait a long time for a staff to get your order, so it's best you order anything from the bar directly.

Disappointed with overall experience. The older staff member who showed us to our seating was unfriendly. The cubicle we were seated at was too small for two separate tables with two separate couples. It meant we couldn’t speak without the other’s overhearing. There were several other free tables. Surely this lady should realise that people couldn’t possibly have a private or comfortable conversation in that cubicle. The serving staff were excellent and really friendly and efficient. The soup which was very tasty but it was lukewarm. We were so hungry that we ate it. The sandwich had very fatty bacon which maybe could have been trimmed off as it said crispy bacon on the menu. These may be small complaints but overall the experience was disappointing.

Well what can I say this place gets better and better. I was back here again after about 5 years and it's as good now as it was then it's like a good wine it gets better with age. To everyone who is in strandhill do not DO NOT leave without calling into the strand bar call in an you'll understand so you will.

Great pub for locals and tourists. Lovely warm atmosphere and food that tastes like home.

We were in Strand Hill for a day out, and needed some dinner. We popped into the Strand Bar. A waitress found the 3 of us a table fairly quickly, this was dispite the fact, that as far as I could see the place was packed. After being shown to our table. I decided to head to the toilets. This gave me a chance to check out more of the pub. I found on my walk about that they had a huge range of draught beers/largers on tap. The place was also as I suspected packed throughout. There was a mixed crowd, some watching the rugby on the several screens around the bar. A lively conversation was going on at the bar, with an Ulster-Man enthusiastically supporting Munster's efforts. Others were there for a few drinks, or a meal. There was a good cross section of customers, and this pub seems very popular with locals. There was a blazing fire at one end of the pub, providing a nice warm glow. The same waitress that showed us to our table, noticed me wandering, and pointed me to the gents. The toilets were very clean, well stocked and smelled nice. Having returned to the table, the other two were ready to order. Another friendly waitress appeared, and took our orders for food and drinks. I have never had such quick service in all of my life. I don't mean hurried, just quick. It was no time at all, to the food arriving at our table. All three of us were amazed how quick our food was ready. Between us, we had a roast beef dinner, a smokey burger, and stuffed mushrooms. All three of us enjoyed our meals, with no complaints, and clean plates all around. The other two had liqueur coffees, one an Irish, and one a Calypso, and also one of them had a sticky toffee pudding. They both enjoyed their afters immensely. The bill was just over €90 for three drinks, three main meals, two liqueur coffees and one desert. The food was very tasty, the service was quick and friendly, there was a nice lively atmosphere, the pub was warm and had interesting decor throughout. A top class pub, well worth a visit if you are in that part of the world. This is how an Irish pub should look, feel, and operate.

This is a great place to have a relaxing lunch. Better to sit outside and enjoy the view of the Atlantic Ocean. We started with the soup and it was very good. It came with brown bread which was dry and flavorless. My wife had the Seafood Chowder and thought it was excellent. All the seafood in Ireland is good. I had the Fish & Chips and it was excellent. The portion size was large and the chips were crispy. Service as good and the ambience excellent.

We visited strand bar for a quick bite to eat as we had dinner booked later that day. We sat outside as we had our dog with us. Our waiter was not very friendly. We ordered a panini and a soup. Several large groups came in After us and all got their food before us. After 40 mins i queried where it was, again the waiter was quite rude and said it was coming. When it came the soup was cold and panini was very poorly presented compared to the other food coming out. As a result we cancelled our dinner reservation. Maybe we got it in a bad day.
