Not far from the city center, on a small street without much in the way of attractions. Very good food and refined recipes. Reservations are required (well) in advance. On the other hand, it's quite expensive.

Make dinner reservations early to ensure a table. Came here for a special dinner with the misses. The restaurant facade is unassuming. Inside it is cozy and lively. Food was great including the navettes, risotto, and filet. Service was attentive and friendly. No rush to flip the table, which was refreshing. Would recommend!

We made a reservation in advance since it was the weekend. It was our first visit, and with kids, we spent a while deciding what to order — but the staff were so kind and helpful. The pasta and dishes they recommended for the kids were absolutely amazing. 🤫》The only downside was the limited space inside, which made it feel like we were sharing a table with our neighbors. But once the food arrived, we were so focused on the flavors that we quickly forgot about it. A lovely experience overall♡

Since I came here for the first time in 2010, I have been calling this place "The Best Restaurant by a mile" in city centre. Both the service and the food have always been authentic and there has always been a cozy and lovely vibe to the place. The BYOW was part of their charm and I was able to bring lovely Argentinian wines to our diners. We went with a few colleagues last week and I couldn't help but realize that the restaurant has changed. It is a more upper class level, no more BYOW, and the service although friendly and very professional, it is colder and sophisticated. The dishes are much smaller in portions and quite pricey. Overall it is still a top quality restaurant, I very much enjoyed our meal but it is definitely not the same vive and it is now too formal for my taste. But probably suits if you are looking for a high end, formal type of diner.

Have been here twice. Consistently very tasty and healthy food. Staff have been always very friendly. Place is small so you should come at your designated booked time as there will likely not be a table to seat at.

First time here and loved it. Food, staff, service and atmosphere were excellent. One of the top restaurants I've ever visited and definitely number 1 for Dublin.

Vaya.

Coffee Shop

24/04/2025: In an area full of good shops for food, Mellon's is the best by far - absolutely spectacular lunch sandwiches (with unique options every day), pastries, the best bread in Dublin that can't be gotten anywhere else, and great coffee - all with the friendliest owners and staff.
17/04/2025: Mellon's is full of the sweetest and friendliest people, they made a tourist feel right at home. It was early in the morning yet they still went above and beyond hospitality, giving me suggestions and telling me the history of the neighborhood. Not to mention I had the most delicious Irish breakfast sandwich that I enjoyed on picnic table out front. I'm so glad I stopped by!

Bastible

17/05/2025: We recently returned to Bastible for the first time since before the pandemic, choosing it as the spot to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately, we left feeling more underwhelmed than impressed. To be clear, the food was good and well-executed, with no dishes we actively disliked. But for a restaurant with such a strong reputation (and a price tag to match), the overall experience fell short in several ways. The biggest letdown was the service. Having worked in hospitality myself and dined at multiple Michelin-starred restaurants both in Dublin and abroad, I had certain expectations. Not for extravagance, but for attentiveness and care. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. Staff seemed disengaged, with minimal explanation or enthusiasm when presenting dishes. The wine pairings were introduced with little context or storytelling, and the sommelier in particular seemed rushed, as if he were trying to get through the evening’s service rather than elevate it. For a bill that came to over €400 for the tasting menu and wine pairing, we expected more than “fine.” There was no sense of occasion, no added effort to make the evening feel even remotely special. We’ve spent far less in unstarred restaurants and left feeling far more satisfied and cared for. In short: if you’re visiting Bastible for the food alone, you’ll likely enjoy it. But if you’re hoping for a full dining experience, one that justifies the price and pedigree, you may want to look elsewhere.
06/05/2025: Just be aware when booking, if a high table comes up, it is more like a bar table, and seats are stools with no backs. It's not v comfortable. Pity. All the food scrumptious.
