Tholsel Bar in Kilkenny

We stayed there at the weekend. The rooms are newly renovated and nicely designed. The staff were friendly. I wouldn’t say it’s great value for money (€243 for a compact room, no breakfast, no amenities). We booked a double room and the bed was on the small side.

Stayed in one of the rooms. Very nice place. Looks very stylish and you can tell a lot of consideration has gone into the decorating. The landlord is very nice and helpful. Will come back.

A fab spot on a sunny day, window open, live music, cold drinks served in lovely glasses, with a serviette, nice touch & the decor and ambience is fab !

Great pint of Guinness and perfect old fashioned. Staff really attentive and friendly, and folk singers drew you in, playing some great traditional songs and even took requests.

This is a bar with rooms, not a hotel. Location is in the heart of the town which made meals and sightseeing convenient. The rooms are newly renovated, fresh and well decorated. The stairway to our Room #2 seemed air conditioned but the room wasn't and no fan available. That makes it rough in summer. Relatively large bathroom and living area except no table or counter big enough to open a suitcase. Bed was comfortable. Parking overnight is around the block and added 16€ to the expense. Appreciated the noon check out.

Stayed overnight and would strongly recommend - great room and a lovely bar with great cocktails and really friendly service.
