05/09/2026: Myself and my Boyfriend came to Rive Gauche to celebrate our anniversary and we had the most magical time. Our server David was amazing. He was so attentive and lovely and made our dinner so special. I couldn't recommend this place enough. Our food was amazing. The atmosphere, food and overall vibe was 10/10. We will 100% be coming back. A special thanks to David for helping us celebrate!

03/08/2026: Located on a side street in Kilkenny, they offer very good coffee and tartlets. Super friendly service. Highly recommended, away from the tourist crowds.

04/10/2026: Easy to get to, friendly staff. I was slightly disappointed as my food came out with the top few bits only warm not hot. I was part of a large table so maybe they had to wait for other dishes to be ready. Good quality dishes though and nice flavours. I would try here again.

11/10/2026: From beginning to end, this was an experience for the senses. Every detail, every morsel, every sip was superb. I cannot recommend this place enough. My husband and I shared the chowder, sea bass, strip loin steak and cream brulee with Irish coffees and had to end the night there because it could not possibly get any better. 07/10/2026: Wow! What a find! Had the most amazing experience, the food and wine were delicious and the service exceptional. My partner and I have both said we would return to Kilkenny (from Swansea) just to go to this restaurant again. Highly recommend

14/07/2026: A spectacular pub I stumbled upon. Congratulations on the beer selection; the quality absolutely did not disappoint. I recommend making a reservation, especially if you're in a large group.

01/10/2026: A small but lovely café. Very friendly service. We hadn't noticed that pancakes were only served until noon. But we were lucky and they still had the last batch of pancakes at 2 pm. We'd gladly come again.

06/09/2026: Honestly, some of the best steak I’ve had. One of the few places where the sides are just as good too. I always go for the cowboy or ribeye and you really can’t go wrong with any of the sides - but the sweet potato fries are especially good. The staff and service are great too, although the music can be a bit loud sometimes

04/09/2026: "The best steak I've ever had". I cannot stop telling people about this place! My wife and I were there midweek- very busy. Glad we booked! We both ordered the 10oz striplion.. all the trimmings, mash, chips, veg - we wanted to try everything! Cant fault a thing. Booking was for 7.30. We were welcomed in, seated AND served by 7.45. Very friendly staff. Well done 👏

13/09/2026: If you’re reading this you need to come here. This place is a literal hole in the wall. A true gem that attracts interesting characters and just creates a great vibe for chatting and getting to know people. We stumbled across this once and found ourselves coming back every day

06/09/2026: Best pub in Kilkenny! We were going to have one drink, ended up having 8. Great rock band playing upstairs.

31/08/2026: Any time I'm in Kilkenny, I cannot leave until I've had a La Bottega sandwich, they're incredible, so fresh and beautiful flavours. I don't know of anything else like this in Ireland, it's a must visit if in the area!!

17/08/2026: We stumbled upon this place by chance, looking for something quick and vegetarian. What a find. Friendly, attentive service, and truly Italian sandwiches, well recommended. The Caprese sandwich with pesto deserves top marks, even if it were in Liguria! Generous and very reasonably priced. Feeling like I was in Italy, I even relied on an espresso, a rare treat for me! It was a great experience, it was delicious!!! If you're passing by, Italian or foreign, pop in for a taste of true Italy!

18/08/2026: Friendly tabby cat in the back seating area. Great pint of Guiness. Was quiet in the early evening but it looks like it could get busy and louder later on.

12/06/2026: When we first entered the room, we were welcomed by a fish smell because the window was broken and the fumes from the kitchen were directly entering. We tried watching tv and couldn't because nearly all the channels were locked with a pin code that not even the manager knew. The water in the sink wouldn't drain. We tried to shower before bed but the hot water was shut off without prior notice. During the night, we were unable to sleep because all you could hear were the sounds of the pipes in the building that sounded exactly like a ship's horn going off every 10 minutes. We were left there wide awake to stare at the huge water damage stains in the ceiling. My partner suffers from epilepsy and sleep is more important for him than for the average person. At the price of 207€ for a night we at the very least expected to get a decent night's rest and that was not the case. We spoke to the manager and he told us he couldn't issue us a full refund. Only 20€. He said it wasn't within his power and that we'd have to go through Booking.com for a refund. Surprise surprise, it turns out he simply does not want to refund more than half. Very deceitful. This is place is more of a hostel.

10/06/2026: Recently had a two night stay here celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary, top marks all round, lovely hotel, exceptional staff from Louise on reception to Olya in the restaurant and Paul the owner, all so friendly and helpful, great location, will definitely return and would highly recommend.
