02/07/2025: Great place for a quiet pint. Nice music played and very friendly staff. Toilets and the entire pub are spotless. Not many pubs with a half door. It's definitely worth a visit.

19/07/2025: We expected to be seated in the pub itself, but were moved to the 'market place', which is more like a winter garden/conservatory and does not have the medieval atmosphere of the pub. So a little disappointed there... Food was served extremely quickly.

04/05/2025: Last year we came for brunch and was buzzing and food was fantastic. This year was very disappointed. Front of house staff were friendly but the food took ages and my eggs benedict was almost cold, egg weren’t runny. They changed it without issue, but was waiting another half an hour, my husband was well finished his by time it arrived. His was also disappointing … half a sausage

19/06/2025: Exceptional bar, you go to the corner and smoke, you feel like you're smoking a cigarette in your aunt's garden. The pool table is free, just don't mention it to the waitress.

15/06/2025: Small independent cafe that served more traditional Irish food, in particular the breakfasts. I would highly recommend the breakfast boxty - it was delicious! It appeared noticeably loved by locals and I always think this is a good sign!

29/06/2025: Tower and Castle Kilkenny City Located in the heart of Kilkenny City, and although on street parking is available around the area, it could be limited in busier times It's got a real cozy decor, with a very traditional / period vibe. The seating is comfortable and sturdy, and the tables a good size. I also like the fact that the kitchen is visible from the dining area. where you can see the kitchen staff in action. The service here is top notch. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and will have you seated with a menu in front of you in no time. While waiting to order a second coffee, one of the staff members was so busy walking around being busy, she failed to notice us trying to summon her, so we walked to the counter to order, but this is only one point in the midst of a lot of good ones. The food here is probably some of the best you will get anywhere. fantastic quality, cooked to perfection, and presented perfectly. What more can one say There is a great selection of items to choose from for breakfast/lunch. or lighter bites such as grab and go coffees /cakes /pastries etc Definitely great value for money for the quality and quantity you receive Worth noting that Tower and Castle opens early morning and closes after lunch so doesnt cater for evening meals

26/06/2025: Popped in for a nice breakfast before exploring Kilkenny. The avocado toast was incredible, very tasty and so fresh. Also the service and smiles from the staff were a good bonus. Thanks guys.

24/06/2025: One of my favourite pubs to visit the two owners Run a great pub with brilliant staff and a fantastic atmosphere and music live music every Monday night as has been so for the resident band for over 20 years a great night every night but especially Monday night when the resident band play their traditional Irish music

28/06/2025: Went in here yesterday morning for the first time to have breakfast. Definitely will be trying again.. The food was amazing, I had there scrambled egg and it was so delicious. The staff were so nice and so accommodating. And the extra tea was a definite plus. Highly recommend and will be returning soon to try lunch menu!

20/06/2025: This is the tastiest wrap I’ve ever had! Proper juicy, full of flavour, with crunchy bits and really fresh. Absolutely loved it! The staff were sound too, really friendly bunch.

04/07/2025: The place is a little overrated. Other reviewers seem to rave about the quality of the steaks. Based on our experience, these were just mediocre. They were cooked medium rare per our request, but were not juicy and the texture was a little mealy. Steaks come with a free dipping sauce, so maybe that’s part of the reason. My daughter ordered one of the burgers and it was way overcooked. Absolutely zero pink or juiciness to the burger. Burgers come loaded with toppings so maybe that’s the reason. My wife got the cod. That dish was actually pretty incredible. The side dishes were great. Mac & cheese, vegetables. The cocktails were very well done. Very extensive drink list. The atmosphere is very energetic. A bit noisy but fun. Service was just OK. I’m sure other servers are better than others but ours never came by to ask how our meal was. The hostess did get us seated right away, even though there were no reservations. If you want to try it, I recommend walking in.

01/05/2025: The food was delish! One of the top 3 meals during our week in Ireland. We would definitely eat here again:D We had the focaccia, the baby potatoes, roast carrots, & the trout for dinner. Great service, James was attentive and was a great conversationalist. We loved everything we ordered, so just had to try their sticky toffee pudding, again one of the top 3 desserts we had during our week in Ireland:D Can't wait to come back and eat here again on our next trip!

17/04/2025: Hace poco cumplí 30 años en el hotel Pembroke. No podía recomendarlo lo suficiente - el personal fue extremadamente servicial desde el principio, especialmente Alicia. En la noche, todo funcionó perfectamente - la comida, bebidas y el servicio eran todos fabulosos. ¡Ninguna pregunta era demasiado grande! El espacio también tiene una zona para un DJ, que realmente se sumó a la noche! Servicio 10/10 y un gran lugar. ¡Gracias de nuevo!

At this level, I anticipate a notable attention to detail, a flair for creativity, and a consistent elevation in quality. Though the dishes were tasty, none stood out as truly remarkable. The scallop ravioli, however, was a standout: impeccably cooked, perfectly seasoned, and a testament to culinary precision. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not exude the elevated standard associated with Michelin recognition. The cheese course, in particular, was a point of disappointment—lacking the sophistication one might hope for in such a setting. As for the ambiance, the decor was adequate but unremarkable—nothing that would leave a lasting impression or elevate the dining experience beyond the ordinary. The service, unfortunately, did not align with the expectations one might have for a Michelin-starred venue. The staff, though friendly, lacked the polish and refinement that typically accompanies such an esteemed rating. Issues ranged from simple lapses, such as not remembering which dish belonged to which guest, to more noticeable oversights like failing to present the dessert wine menu before the cheese course, or even neglecting to refill water glasses. Additionally, dirty plates were left on the table for an extended period. In summary, while the meal was enjoyable, the overall experience did not reflect the caliber typically associated with a Michelin star. There is potential here, but a more focused commitment to detail, both in the kitchen and front of house, is needed to truly distinguish this restaurant.
