The best restaurants in Kilkenny

23/11/2025: I ordered food via Just Eat… ordered accepted, got the message ready for collection and when arrived to pick up the food was not there and I had to wait 40 min to figure that they forgot to prepare my food, I decided to wait as the attendant said they would prioritise, then another 25 minutes and guess??? They forgot again and this time didn’t even apologise and said if you wanna cancel go ahead… horrible customer experience… the food might be delicious but the customer experience is one of the poorest I have ever experienced.

13/11/2025: We've ordered here for years but recently the quality of the food has taken a nose dive. The chicken and prawns are so rubbery they're inedible. Really disappointing for the price.

16/09/2025: If you like it loud, this is the place for you! It was a Friday afternoon. There were only about six men in the bar, but the volume of their conversation was unbelievable. The ambiance was a typical pub.

22/08/2025: This is THE BEST pub in Kilkenny for live music and the people! I have been there EVERY time (6 times) I've been to Ireland in the last 2 1/2 years! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

17/11/2025: A great place for a pint near the train station. The staff was very kind and open, so that's a plus, and the price was totally fine.

27/10/2025: best pub i’ve been to in Ireland so far. Bartender was great, the regulars were so kind, and a great pint of guinness. nothing beats sitting next to the fire and watching curling. highly recommend

06/09/2025: Well presented gift shop that’s not overflowing with generic tat. Nice change for Kilkenny. Eoghan was extremely helpful and pleasant and I can’t recommend the gift shop highly enough.

09/09/2025: Sandra cooked us up a full Irish breakfast (minus black pudding for us). It was very tasty. We went back again the next morning for breakfast sandwiches.

19/09/2025: Extremely nice bartenders! Good atmosphere, you will feel comfortable at once.

06/09/2025: O'Hara's tap room. Went there and had really good beer. Spoke with two of the bartenders (possibly owners?) asked for a sticker (which no breweries or distillers carry in Ireland) and received a free t shirt instead. Great place good people!

19/07/2025: I'm going to this shop/meat counter since they first opened their doors. Excellent quality food, meat and service. Highly recommend. Very friendly staff and helpful. Good prices.

10/09/2025: It’s a good family hotel. Despite the mixed reviews for the restaurant, we had a very nice meal on the first night, with the staff being attentive and the food coming quickly. They seem to know that we are here with kids and try to make things efficient! The Jurassic Park attraction was fun, and our toddler had a great time. She also enjoyed the kids pool. Breakfast was great! The coffee was great too, not the usual awful stuff you get from a lot of hotels. There were two less than ideal experiences, both at reception. 1) we were skipped when a rude person skipped the queue. The person on the desk knew this because she beckoned us over. 2) my uncle died and we needed an extra hour at checkout. It was 30 euro. I thought you could have just let that go.

10/08/2025: The hotel is quite good for families with young kids, but we stayed in the older part of the hotel in rooms that don’t have air-con. I would not recommend it, as the room was stiflingly hot (despite using the fan provided). Possibly one of the worst nights sleep I’ve had in a long, long time.

10/09/2025: Had a lovely meal at the restaurant. Was not dissapointed. Very busy on weekends, but well worth the visit. Friendly staff and excellent service.

25/04/2025: A great place to watch sports. The owner was really nice, friendly and helpful, which can be a rare quality nowadays. Definitely worth a visit.

28/10/2025: After a long drive from the Cliffs of Moher, we walked into Cleere’s on a Monday night and were completely blown away by the live “Session" The amount of musical talent packed into one pub was unbelievable—each performance was better than the last, and the shared history among the musicians was truly remarkable. It was an honor to experience such a vibrant, authentic night in Kilkenny. My wife and I will never forget it.

01/11/2025: The food was amazing. We had the shared plate earlier today - lots of meat, enough salad, delicious sauces with great value for money. One of my best meals in the past 10 years. The main waitress looks and walks like a queen. She could be anywhere from her 20s to her 50s, but she has a real spark of life in her with what seems like priceless wisdom to go along with it. She is beautiful. I wish I had the skill to paint her. Her husband must be a proud and able man, if she has one. The chef (I assume based on his clothes) seems well aware of the unmatched quality of food he is able to offer and looks happy and proud because of it. I will definitely visit again.

06/09/2025: Unsatisfied that you required to pay only cash , from the other hand the staff were willing to help and explain how they work and gi e you information about their products. Totally recommend to try the new soecial ice cbd strawberry matcha!!
