The best restaurants in Kilkenny

02/02/2026: Super quaint and homey hotel that made me feel like it was 20 years ago, but in a good way. Perfect location only minutes away from all the main things to do. The bar was very slow service and the bartender seemed super stressed out. We just ended up leaving as we sat at the hotel bar for nearly 10 minutes without her coming back to take our drink order after I asked for a cocktails menu.

27/01/2026: Clean, comfortable rooms. Not terribly big. We had booked a twin but ended up with a double. There were 3 rooms booked for our party and the heat in all 3 was overpowering upon entry. Breakfast was an unfortunate let down. Good number of parking spaces out back. Good location to walk into town.

19/11/2025: This place is an amazing hidden gem. We booked online and really had no idea what we were walking into . We flew in on A Tuesday from the states and we're very pleased with everything. Tish, Trish, and Mags were all very accommodating and extremely helpful with anything at all we needed. The owner was very nice as well. We had a great time at the session down stairs and met new friends there. Loved this place!!!! We stayed a week!!!

27/08/2025: Myself and my partner had dinner in Statham’s by Pembroke on Saturday night and to say the food was out of this world is an understatement, each course was prepared and served to perfection. The staff were so helpful and friendly, the atmosphere was amazing. This is a top class venue with the most delicious food i have ever eaten can't wait to come back again.

14/04/2025: The perfect place for a lunchtime snack. The dishes are limited, but they're really good and well-prepared. They don't have many tables, and there may be lines outside.

12/04/2025: The butternut squash curry was delicious and the service was really good, great atmosphere, good price. Will definitely return.

27/03/2026: The hotel is centrally located which was very helpful. The rooms were very nice and the breakfast was great. The ladies we came in contact with at the front desk were the least friendly of all of our hotel stays, which was disappointing.

28/12/2025: The food here is just amazing.... Everytime I go to kilkenny this is always my first stop for breakfast. Last time I went I arrived on Tuesday morning the only day that it's closed.... I was very tired and hungry after a late night ferry trip and to find it closed was so disappointing I almost cried. That is how good this cafe is...... Needless to say I went there the very next day and as always I was not disappointed with either the food or the service which as always were first class. If your going to kilkenny you should definitely go to this cafe at least once if not multiple times during your visit. Multiple trips help to decide what to have off the menu because it's all so delicious it's can be extremely hard to decide what to have..... I will make sure my next trip to kilkenny doesn't have me arriving on a Tuesday morning because I don't want to relive the disappointment of seeing the doors of this cafe closed.......

10/03/2026: We visited the newpark hotel for our fourth visit. It was for our minimoon. We ordered dinner in the restaurant the first night. It was nice, we ordered wine also with the meal which came when we were almost finished eating. (Restaurant was not busy) We stayed in a hot tub room, which is much more expensive than the standard but we felt up to now, worth it. The hot tub smelled like a fish tank though we were assured it was cleaned. It was also quite low on water compared to usual and the lights in it were not working at all . For the whole second day, carpenters were in the balcony beside us, hammering, sawing, using loud gas nail guns and installing new decking where they could see us in our "private balcony". It made it quite difficult to enjoy our stay. I did politely complain to front desk and asked for the general manager. Instead, front desk manager came out and agreed that this was not acceptable and offered complimentary lunch the following day which we politely declined. We were informed we could be moved to another room though it was 4 o clock at this stage and all the hot tub rooms were still in close proximity to the ongoing works which I'm sure were finished for the day at this stage. We were assured that works would have been stopped if we complained earlier but this is beside the point, it shouldn't have been going on while the rooms were in use. I did let management know that this review would be posted and we have recorded the works going on right alongside us as it was unbelievable frankly. The TV in the room also is something from maybe 10 years ago. No Netflix, it has screencast which cuts in and out and TV is important in Ireland specially if weather is poor. While the outdoor park and animal farm for kids looks like it is great for families, it looks like this hotel has gone downhill and is badly in need of investment and refurbishing. Would not recommend and certainly won't be back. We stayed in the Brehon hotel Killarney for our wedding the days beforehand and I must say the quality and standard was certainly on another level entirely considering both are 4 star hotels and the Brehon was better value too.

08/02/2026: We order from here regularly. It’s so hit and miss. This evening my pizza was undercooked with way too much cheese and then no flavour. Very disappointing
