The best restaurants in Kilkenny

17/07/2026: Nice place. Reuben sandwich isn’t going to win any awards

15/07/2026: A very cool restaurant and bar. The bar is classic and well-stocked, as is typical in Ireland. The food is excellent. We had Cajun-spiced hake with smoked fries and a small Caesar salad, and for our second course, jambalaya (with prawns, crab, diced fish fillets, and sausage slices). So far, one of the best meals we've had in Ireland. If we come back to Kilkenny, we'll definitely eat here again! The only downside was that the AC was set very cold, but that was tolerable.

04/06/2026: Last minute decision while we were visiting Kilkenny and we weren't disappointed. Food was great from appetizers to the gelato finish. We had a broad selection of choices- salad, pasta, pizzas and steak.

21/05/2026: Ordered food online and was delivered to the wrong address due to a fault on my end, however I rang them to let them know I put the wrong address to be told it was left outside the house 20 mins later ( normally with just eat you have to give a code to receive food they left it anyway outside.) The lady in primo said she would ring me back . She did and said she would send out fresh food to my address it would take 30 mins myself. She then rings 20 minutes later to say her manager said no? After already telling me 20 minutes ago that the food would be 30 minutes . My 6 year old daughter was hungry and left waiting only to receive no food she said you can just get a refund on just eat . The manager should’ve been contacted first before ringing me instead of leaving me and my daughter waiting .

12/05/2026: Was recommended to be a guest at the health centre up the road and didn’t disappoint. Really enjoyed the Smithwicks whilst watching football on the big screen.

04/04/2026: Spent a night here after the Kilkenny 5km race. Highly recommend it. The staff was very helpful and welcoming 😊 the beds were cozy and the breakfast was 10/10. Thanks to staff Mario and Gerry.

18/03/2026: The shop has a great diversity of products from many countries. I normally go there to get Brazilian products (cuscuz, goma de tapioca, banana da terra, feijão fradinho, etc.).

16/10/2025: Wedding Venue of our dreams!! Wow! I can’t recommend the Avalon highly enough! Laura is a phenomenal wedding organiser who listens to your vision and brings it to life! She feels like a friend straight away who is fully invested in the day! Peter and Laura then make sure the day runs perfectly, remaining calm and positive throughout! The Avalon is the perfect place for a private wedding where you are the priority for the whole hotel! They could not have been more supportive! I can’t thank them enough for the most perfect day! All of our guests loved it commenting on the gorgeous food, friendly staff and homely rooms!

11/07/2026: My wife and I found out about this place and it was amazing. both of us are keto eaters and they were very accommodating. The had fresh bacalava in the fridge. We felt like we were back in turkey/Greece. The food was very fresh and a fast service . The portion was huge. Highly recommend.

22/06/2026: Rented a room, quite expensive. Still, for what it is. No breakfast, Wi-Fi that gives no signal or cannot be found. Staff not really helpful (to put it mildly)... In short, not okay.
