28/12/2025: The food here is just amazing.... Everytime I go to kilkenny this is always my first stop for breakfast. Last time I went I arrived on Tuesday morning the only day that it's closed.... I was very tired and hungry after a late night ferry trip and to find it closed was so disappointing I almost cried. That is how good this cafe is...... Needless to say I went there the very next day and as always I was not disappointed with either the food or the service which as always were first class. If your going to kilkenny you should definitely go to this cafe at least once if not multiple times during your visit. Multiple trips help to decide what to have off the menu because it's all so delicious it's can be extremely hard to decide what to have..... I will make sure my next trip to kilkenny doesn't have me arriving on a Tuesday morning because I don't want to relive the disappointment of seeing the doors of this cafe closed.......

12/06/2026: The Club House was the perfect location for our short and sweet visit to Kilkenny in May 2026. We were in town for 2 nights, and the hotel is right in the center of the city, just 2 minutes walk from Kilkenny Castle and the start of the Medieval Mile. The huge onsite parking lot was very handy (and secure). Our room was beautiful and so comfortable. It was so worth it to include breakfast in the mornings as well, as the food served was plentiful and satisfying. We loved the Club House's character, on top of being clean and and elegant, all the decorations and design elements makes it feel like you've stepped into a moment in history in the best way. Staff were all so helpful and kind, and shout outs to the Bar staff on our arrival evening (the first night of our Ireland vacation), who gave us a warm welcome. One thing to be aware of is that there is no elevator, so I likely would not come back with family members who have mobility concerns if there was no availability on the first floor (from what we saw, this would be a very comfortable and safe option as all ground floor rooms face the hotel's secure parking lot, which was quiet for the duration of our stay).

02/06/2026: The oldest hotel in the village still in operation. We had a small double; well, small is what it was, but it was only for one night. The hotel has a lot of character, excellent service, and a great breakfast. Ample free parking and located in the center.

19/12/2025: Best coffee in Kilkenny, best food too! I love their seasonal ginger bread people, so cute and fun to call them a gingerbread person and they're delicious! The staff are so nice as well!

18/12/2025: Can someone explain to me what a gingerbread person is on the menu?? Is the lady that runs it called a personager? Fantastic food but come on now there is no need for that sillyness.

09/04/2026: Another great stay in The Newpark Hotel. Our daughters love this place - with so many attractions you hardly ever need to leave the grounds. Willy Wonka experience was great. Staff very nice as always. Would definitely recommend to any family as a gate-away not only for kids but adults/parents as well as kids are very well looked after so parents can actually have some time to relax (not that easy to come by these days)

06/04/2026: I found the food a bit pricey, but I was very happy with the rooms and service. Kind of wish the pool had a bigger area for kids as well, but the Dino park more than made up for it.

17/10/2025: Definitely the best breakfast spot in town. The lady who runs the shop is super friendly! We enjoyed a *delicious* breakfast at the riverside!

16/10/2025: Wedding Venue of our dreams!! Wow! I can’t recommend the Avalon highly enough! Laura is a phenomenal wedding organiser who listens to your vision and brings it to life! She feels like a friend straight away who is fully invested in the day! Peter and Laura then make sure the day runs perfectly, remaining calm and positive throughout! The Avalon is the perfect place for a private wedding where you are the priority for the whole hotel! They could not have been more supportive! I can’t thank them enough for the most perfect day! All of our guests loved it commenting on the gorgeous food, friendly staff and homely rooms!

20/05/2026: I remember visiting this restaurant about a year ago, and everything was absolutely amazing back then. Unfortunately, my experience today left me quite disappointed. I ordered the shrimp salad, but it has definitely gone downhill. Last time, the portion of shrimp was generous, but today there were barely any. The service was also frustrating. While the food was served quickly, the staff completely ignored me afterward. I sat there for 50 minutes after finishing my meal, hoping to order dessert, but nobody ever came back to my table. In the end, I just paid for my initial order and left. Because of the poor service and the drop in food quality, I can only give it 3 stars this time, even though I used to love this place.

09/05/2026: I visited Primo on the evening of 2nd May 2026, between 9:00 and 10:00 PM, along with a guest, and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. This wasn’t an isolated incident, as I’ve encountered similar service issues during my last three visits—two with guests and one with my family. On this particular evening, the service was notably poor from the start. We had to actively look for staff just to place our order, as no one seemed to be attending to tables or checking in. Even something as basic as water was only provided after a long wait and only when we specifically requested it. Once the food arrived, there was no follow-up from the staff to check if everything was satisfactory. At one point, we needed chilli oil and spent several minutes trying to get someone’s attention, but no staff were available. I eventually had to leave the table and go to the reception area to request it myself. What was most disappointing, however, was the lack of response when I raised these concerns at the end of the meal. There was no apology offered, and when I asked to speak to a manager, I was told none was available. I was casually told I could make a complaint, but there was no sense of accountability or concern. As a regular customer who has previously recommended this restaurant to friends, this experience has been particularly disheartening. I genuinely believe the management needs to take a closer look at the level of service being provided. At present, it has left me reconsidering whether I can continue to recommend this place to others.

04/04/2026: Spent a night here after the Kilkenny 5km race. Highly recommend it. The staff was very helpful and welcoming 😊 the beds were cozy and the breakfast was 10/10. Thanks to staff Mario and Gerry.
