The best restaurants in Kilkenny

30/09/2026: Look at the wall! Apparently it's art created as part of a town public works project. It's totally Cartoon Saloon-esque. Cheers to the medieval streetscape, modern murals, and Irish music!

11/09/2026: The bartender, Kevin is witty, friendly and so much fun to exchange with. He's a fan of Quebec's (Canada) Angine de Poitrine and greeted us with their familiar triangle handsign. Had a blast and wished we could stay longer in his town. Thanks again for the toasties!

25/08/2026: Not an unenjoyable experience, by any stretch, but I couldn't help but feel a little bit disappointed by the quality of the food. If I had just wandered in off the street with no expectations, I would have enjoyed it more, but knowing that it was a Michelin star restaurant, I was expecting to he wowed, which never happened. Overall, a decent Sunday lunch but the Michelin star is somewhat perplexing.

28/07/2026: As a birthday treat my son took myself and my wife for lunch at this restuarant. We arrived just at ppening time at 12.30pm We got a very warm friendly welcome as we were brought to our table. The lunch menu for the early bird lunch give you 3 choices for starters, mains and deserts. Each of us enjoyed different choices for all 3 courses. The level of detail taken by the chef was extrondery as all dishes were top class. The level of attention that we received from our waitor was exceptional. The table settings and comfort was also first class. I would reccomend this resturant for a special occasion to be spoilt .. We will be back!

14/07/2026: Visited for a 30th birthday party at the weekend. Great fun.

11/10/2026: I went for dinner last night with a group of 9 people. I was very disappointed in the food and menu. The portion size was tiny for a nearly 30euro pasta dish. Pasta was under cooked, 6 pasta peices, small amount of sea food underneath! The desert was 10euro and it was smaller than a mince pie for a bramley apple pie. Same with the taste it was tiny! The other people at the party got fillet steak and it tasted more like a lump of roast beef and the spinach that came on the plate was watery and not seasoned. The beetroot on the side was actually lovely. I had heard its gone down hill but it really has. Allot of the popular items on the menu have been taken off. Also to top it off it was a 40th birthday and they brought out icecream with a candle and sang happy birthday but when we got the bill they charged for it! Everyone agreed afterwards we wont be back unless things improves. A very expensive night for an underwhelming food.

09/10/2026: A Wonderful Italian Dining Experience! We had a lovely evening at this Italian restaurant. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. The pasta dishes were particularly enjoyable, with fresh herbs, rich sauces, and generous portions. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it the perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends. We had a great time together and really enjoyed the overall experience. A great choice for anyone who appreciates good Italian food and a relaxed dining atmosphere. We would definitely recommend it and look forward to coming back!

22/08/2026: We visit every time we are in Kilkenny now because the food has always been amazing whether it's for breakfast, brunch or late lunch. Farm to fork, what more could you want? The freshest of ingredients and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend

28/07/2026: Maeve and Co. provide an incredible service that always keeps us coming back - their also one of the very few places to open super early on a Sunday which is great when the little ones are up and about.

09/09/2026: Food was forgettable, the experience was a war crime. The manager tried to overcharge us because we were the only idiots who decided to dine here on a Wednesday night. Don’t come here.

30/08/2026: Totally at ease staff could have not been more kind and helpful. I was in Kilkenny for the day well Worth a visit to eat prices very reasonable . Supervisor was more than helpful. Thanks to all the staff. I would ignore negative reviews these people could not be more helpful. Service excellence.

19/09/2025: Extremely nice bartenders! Good atmosphere, you will feel comfortable at once.

06/09/2025: O'Hara's tap room. Went there and had really good beer. Spoke with two of the bartenders (possibly owners?) asked for a sticker (which no breweries or distillers carry in Ireland) and received a free t shirt instead. Great place good people!

11/06/2026: A proper Irish boozer! Landlord very friendly and has a pool table round the back. Best pint of Guinness that I’ve had in the area!

12/08/2026: I cannot express how DELICIOUS the sándwiches were. Exactly how youd expect a sándwich to be if you got it in a charcuterie in Italy. Delicious ingredientes and the bread was super good.

25/05/2026: A great spot for coffee and food- the lemon and coconut scones are a must

24/09/2026: One of the few places that offers blaa bread as an option. Try the ploughman or the brie and cranberry either on a blaa or on brown bread. The place is very small, just a few outside tables, so its easy to take away your order and enjoy sitting outside somewhere else. Last, the restaurant name is simply fun.

06/10/2026: A pub very geared towards tourism, located on the main road through Kilkenny, with live music and correspondingly high prices, nevertheless manages to look quite fresh.

26/09/2026: Excellent food, best steak ever. We are farmers so know what quality is, and you will find it here. Couldn't return on this trip but will definitely be back. Thank you to all the staff and the kind local who picked us up from the bus stop!

21/07/2026: Room was very low end - no air conditioning in very high heat - and bathrooms were poor quality. Location is good and place has gated parking - but would likely find a better place next time.

20/06/2026: The service at the desk was great. The rooms are the down side of staying here. Our room didn’t have AC. They had a fan in the room but it was still very hot. The bathrooms were very dated and could use an update.

01/07/2026: The bartender is really really sweet! And loads of great football to watch in there.

04/06/2026: Popped in on a Wednesday for one after a stroll, and stayed for four. Lovely cosy pub with nice pints, and good staff.
