19/01/2025: AMAZING STOUT!!!!!Lovely pub was in it last week.. the Guinness is 10/10, you could eat it with a fork.. met an old man called Cyril at the bar a blocklayer by trade and he was a gentleman to talk to. Another man had his cockapoo sitting beside him at the bar and such a well trained dog.lovely to see and all the customers knew this dog by name “dink” a local celebrity by all accounts.. definitely be back for that pint of absolute cream and the homeliness felt at the bar!!

10/05/2025: Reception lovely, bar staff too. Had dinner in main bar on 1st evening which was beautiful. Paid B&B for what was on breakfast menu. Walked in 30mins after breakfast started, lifted a menu and went to sit down. Only to be asked did I want off the deli ie- hot plate. I said no I will use menu. Was told by the young man at front of house that it's the hot plate unless I want Eggs Benedict. Breakfast was Luke warm and best and egg rubbery. They definitely mis-sell the B&B offer. Why have a menu that staff don't you order off. Strange

27/04/2025: Delicious food and cozy atmosphere. The staff are very polite and kind. I intend to come back again, it's worth every penny.

02/03/2025: La hierba de limón no es lo que solía ser, eso es seguro. A pesar de que no estaba ocupado en absoluto todavía se sentía como si nos estuvieran apurando. Apenas terminamos nuestro plato principal cuando los postres se apresuraron. La comida era media, sin ambiente y hacía mucho frío dentro del restaurante. Es una pena que solía ser mi lugar favorito para comer en Kilkenny.

11/05/2025: The Clubhouse Hotel have refurbished beautiful new rooms which are outstanding . Food is fab , and whether you are visiting for a coffee or a stay it’s a fab hotel to visit . Location is great . Patrick st Kilkenny . You are right in town. Large carpark at rear of hotel for customers. Anne Biddy Good Luck Horse Shoes .

08/05/2025: I cannot recommend this place enough! I stayed there for 2 days and it was delightful. The old, grand interior makes you feel as if you stepped back in time, into a very fancy hotel. The staff is attentive and friendly, the location could not be more central. I reached all the sights within 15 minutes of walking. Will definitely go back

20/05/2025: We reserved an area with dart board and finger food for a group trip, and it was perfect. Staff were really good fun and even joined in a sing-song at the end of the night. Would definitely recommend Rafter's for a group night out. Note, we didn't stay overnight here but I didn't want to dock marks for that.

18/05/2025: Stopped in for breakfast and food was top notch and reasonable priced. Staff were very friendly Place is full of nice memorabilia Toilets were very clean Worthy of a visit

15/05/2025: Excellent place. The atmosphere is one of the best in all of Ireland, calm and relaxed. The food is good and the pints are excellent. The service is very good. I highly recommend it.

13/03/2025: Breakfast roll was not heated properly and was cold in the centre. Also tea was luke warm.

07/03/2025: Burger is class and I'm not kidding, I was only going to have a pint with my meal but never had as nice a pint of Coors ever so I stayed for a couple more.

16/02/2025: I travelled to Kilkenny on Saturday for a short break. It was recommended to me by a friend. However when I booked the stay I was given a price of 160 euro per night. I then checked their website and found that Billy Byrnes bistro was advertising a room for 120 euro. I did not mention the price difference but thought I would query this point when I arrived on Saturday evening only to be told then that the price would be 180 euro. I was shown to my room by a very pleasant member of staff. The double room (8ft x 8ft) with ensuite (3ft x 3ft ) with no hot running water. The room had a double bed, no wardrobe, no chairs, a kettle that did not work however there was a stool. . My friend and I had a few drinks and an overpriced very nice meal but of (take away standard). The drinks we consumed were paid for as we went. Separately I was charged for the meal. I registered my visa card with the company by text 2 days before my arrival. However I was asked on 3 occasions to pay for my accommodation and I obliged as the member of staff was very pleasant and professional in her job at all times. The noise level I experienced in the room from the music downstairs kept me awake until 2am. I arrived down for breakfast Sunday morn at 8.57 am when i was met by a lady who informed me with a cold response and told me that breakfast did not start until 9am so i returned to my room. When i arrived back for breakfast I at this time tried to register my dissatisfaction but no one seemed to be interested. May I add that breakfast did not include cereal and a soft drink. The tea when it arrived was luke warm. The morning when I left the manager practically ignored me. If the situation as I see it as a customer does not change significantly then I will not be a return customer nor would i recommend the place to anyone else. Myself and my friend have been regular customers over the years but now feel very disappointed at the standards offered at such high prices.
