The best restaurants in Kilkenny

18/03/2026: You had just arrived in Ireland for the first time and we stumbled upon this bar by chance. Excellent service, food, and atmosphere.

11/03/2026: We were here for lunch. The pulled pork sandwich and the lamb burger were absolutely delicious and delicious. We also enjoyed a lovely Sullivans Ale. Perfect. Thank you so much!

06/11/2025: The baristas are really friendly and make excellent coffee! The atmosphere is also fantastic. Especially if you sit upstairs, you can just switch off and enjoy your coffee in peace and quiet.

02/11/2025: Great place to chill. Awesome to have lovely well behaved dogs welcome. Staff friendly and great coffee. Setup meand tables are a bit close together and clamped. Toilet is upstairs, just a little challenging for an elderly family member.

15/03/2026: Very disappointed. The bar has a sign that says "we're an allergy aware place", but when I asked if they had gluten free beer, they don't anymore. The first waiter I talked to told me to "go to the Left Bank as they have some", I wasn't impressed. The bar manager then told me he had some cider instead. So, because I'm coeliac, I can't have a beer and need to adapt to whatever is available for me. I wanted to go and see an Irish trad session tomorrow evening for Paddy's night, I'll go somewhere else then. Extremely disappointing, I feel let down. You have loads of options for vegetarians and vegans, but not that many for coeliac, even though it's a disease and not a choice!

05/03/2026: Went in for a drink , did not have any food so cant comment on that , very nice place to have a drink, not much seating so you have to go early

22/03/2026: Ordered a slow cooked beef massaman. Have had it numerous times before in Lana. What on earth is this meat? Completely Different to the meat that’s usually in it. So disappointing. Also just one potatoe in the whole meal. Cutting corners on the most important part of the dish

10/01/2026: I have gotten takeaways from here numerous times and the food has alway been delicious. Very reasonably priced and the service is always friendly and quick. The dining-in is also very good, the staff are friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

02/02/2026: All the menu items we tasted was weirdly sweet. Just sweet. I have no idea how everything tasted the same kind of sweet, be it paneer, baingan, or even non veg curries. The only thing I liked was samosas. I would sadly not recommend this place to anyone with a spice palate.

19/09/2025: Extremely nice bartenders! Good atmosphere, you will feel comfortable at once.

06/09/2025: O'Hara's tap room. Went there and had really good beer. Spoke with two of the bartenders (possibly owners?) asked for a sticker (which no breweries or distillers carry in Ireland) and received a free t shirt instead. Great place good people!

31/12/2025: Seafood chowder was really great! Beef noodles quite good! Friendly good service! Nice atmosphere. Recommended.

11/08/2025: Traditional Irish music session on the first Friday of the month. All musicians welcome. Well worth a visit. Roaring open fire on the colder nights. Pool table. Large smoking area. A hop, skip and a jump from where the library was on John's Quay.

06/03/2026: We came across this little gem of a restaurant on our first night in Kilkenny. Coming in, I couldn’t help but notice how well kept and stylish the room was. We were quickly welcomed by a friendly face and seated immediately after. We were quick to choose sides and main dishes - Trout and Carbonara Schnitzel (yes, I KNOW). And it would be an understatement to say they were amazing. Ana, our waiter, made this whole experience even better. When she found out it’s our first time and night in Kilkenny, she gave us tips and ideas of what we can see and do. Besides that, she was very attentive, so we never had this “trying to make eye contact with the waiter” experience, haha. Would definitely visit again.

22/02/2026: We popped in here for night cap of a cocktail and I have to say it was one of the nicest! Highly recommend d the Picante! The staff were so friendly and really know how to shake up a super cocktail. Lovely ambience and look forward to going back.

12/02/2026: We spent a wonderful evening here after having lunch. We asked the waiter to recommend a sweet white wine to complement the meal we just had. He did not disappoint! With two options put forward to us we were gifted the chance to sample both wines before choosing. Excellent service and attention to detail and a very impressive selection of wines to suit all tastes.
