The best restaurants in Kilkenny

30/07/2025: Have had the pleasure of eating here twice over a few days. Brunch/Breakfast on a busy Saturday... pancakes excellent with bacon and maple syrup. And a kids portion of Nutella pancakes all went down a treat We had beetroot and avocado toast which was lovely could have eaten more. Was nearby for lunch on a second occasion and the food didn't disappoint. Burger and fries where tasty. Kids sliders and chips went down a treat. Missed out on dessert as it was closing time. Coffee was good. Both occasions staff where very nice and friendly service was quick. Will be back!

24/07/2025: Had the most amazing birthday breakfast for my wife at Doppio’s and couldn’t fault a single thing. The staff were warm, welcoming, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and special. We ordered the full Irish and the blueberry pancakes both were absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked, great quality ingredients, and full of flavour. The pancakes especially were a real hit fluffy, fresh, and packed with blueberries! I’ve also had lunch here in the past, and the steak sandwich still stands out as one of the best I’ve ever had served on a rustic baguette, packed with flavour, and cooked just right. Consistently great food, lovely atmosphere, and fantastic service. Highly recommend Doppio’s it’s a gem! 👏🍳🥩🫐

23/06/2025: Had a few pints with a few friends in The Sceilp Inn on the Saturday evening the June Bank Holiday. Great service, Fantastic atmosphere,.

11/08/2025: Traditional Irish music session on the first Friday of the month. All musicians welcome. Well worth a visit. Roaring open fire on the colder nights. Pool table. Large smoking area. A hop, skip and a jump from where the library was on John's Quay.

12/08/2025: My wife and I spent our honeymoon here for a couple days. It’s a nice hotel with decent amenities. Before you book there are some concerns you should know. We came here during the summer and there is no air conditioning what so ever in our room. I understand this might be normal for some hotels to have no AC in Europe, but it’s hot and uncomfortable.

09/08/2025: The hotel is a maze. Our room was at the end of multiple corridors and a couple flights of stairs. But at least we got an early check-in. It was worth the deal. Location is great.

18/09/2025: We came in for our last night In Ireland for drinks and music. Music was great, unfortunately service at the bar was lacking. Owner/bartender seemed too distracted to get our drink order correct. Leaving us with a bad taste and forcing us to do one more pub to end our trip on the right note. I guess it wasn’t a total loss

13/08/2025: ¡Una comida realmente hermosa, definitivamente pedimos demasiado! El paté era el plato más agradable, solo la decepción era la tabla de queso, por casi 30 € la tabla de queso era escasa con una selección mínima de queso regular como solo cheddar y galletas saladas.

20/07/2025: They took myself and my girlfriend in as a walk-in and the service and food was amazing! Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a bit of everything, in the center of Kilkenny! Price was fair, and the food was great quality.

15/09/2025: I guess it would be grand if you are with a man. In 20 minutes my sister and I were ignored twice while tables with a man were waited on. Only four tables in total and one was done so to have such rude disregard from the waiter was so unacceptable we left. Excellent service and food just a few steps down the street at the Hibernian bar with excellent door and Service Beautiful bar area

08/08/2025: It was good! Nice and cozy and the baristas were kind. Ordered some sort of pizza roll up sort of thing, it was awesome, an amazing snack for when you want something good, but not filling. The chocolate chip cookies size had me wondering why i bought it, but when I took a bite, it was delicious. It was gooey and rich and chocolate on the inside, i would recommend sharing that one though, since it was big and sweet, and trust me you'll need a huge glass of water afterwards. Ordered a mango passionfruit refreshment drink for myself, it was really good, and the textured was more smoothie like. I'm not quite sure how the other refreshers are, since this one was in a different category under refreshments, but this one didnt have the usual thin, liquidy consistency people usually like. I personally really enjoyed it, I asked my sister to order the smallest size and it was quite big, im not sure whether she forgot to specific the size, or if this is genuinely the smallest they have. I would just ask and double check in case. Anyways, It was really good. Enjoy!

28/08/2025: Best value hot breakfast in Kilkenny. The vegan and veggie option is all fresh ingredients, no UPF, and includes your drink for €12 (Aug 2025). Its possible the brunch of avocado and eggs with beetroot hummouse beats it for taste. The value is fantastic, portions really generous. And beautiful old Georgian architecture doesn't hurt either :)

28/08/2025: Consistently friendly service, tasty food. Love the Capri ciabatta. Yes prices have gone up here same as everywhere else and it's the top end of what I'd pay for a sandwich without any sides but I like this place, for bottomless brunch or just dropping in for a coffee it's always been good
