The best restaurants in Kilkenny

09/11/2024: Beautiful town of Kilkenny! Food was great and the service was wonderful.

06/11/2024: I'd say it's a tourist trap due it's location, the most expensive pint after traveling in Ireland for over a week, the place smells so bad, we even had to drink the pint very quick because it was so annoying the smell in the entire place that we couldn't stay there any longer. Music was great tho

16/10/2024: Price/quality, the cakes are a good to go. They are a little sweet, but they are a bargain.

27/07/2024: Very good food and well done with fair price. The service was fast and friendly. The room was inviting and cosy with nice chairs, the menu was reduced due to the games, but I would love to try their brunch menu.

30/09/2024: Woman working there needs an attitude check. You shouldn't accept phone-in orders if you're not going to prepare it for your customers. Food is nice at least

17/10/2024: Avoid this place at all costs, it's the worst takeaway and diner in KK Chips are frozen oven chips heated up and served lukewarm, pricing is like a restaurant, get your chips in Roccos or Joe's

08/10/2024: Had a horrible experience in there today with a worker I assume is the manager. She is a mid height woman with slim build, long blond ponytail with blue eyes wearing no apron at times and brown hair before her ponytail. I asked this worker if she wouldn’t mind separating the ice and drink to which she decided to mansplain that I’d “still be getting the same amount of drink nonetheless” and assumed that was the reason I needed the separate cup. I asked for oat milk and she asked me “do you have an issue?” I was about to respond it was ok, and she cut across me and said “you do”. Then myself and my three friends heard her talking about me saying “there’s a queue of customers you know what I mean, I don’t have time for that ” and mumbling other stuff about me. She was trying to make it very evident that she was displeased with me and she made me so uncomfortable. What a miserable woman.

23/09/2024: Went to the Kilkenny design centre for tea and a scone they were both very nice. The staff are lovely the service is quick. It's easy to find.

20/08/2024: Visiting Kilkenny Castle and the town. We should have tried another place. The food was what you would expect from a tourist location foodhall. My wife had the cauliflower and chicken tenders and I had a very dry, tasteless and crumbly scone. As much as my wife is a veggie lover she couldn't eat much of the cauliflower. She said that the chicken was a bit better.

29/10/2024: What is it with McDonald's like do they actually zone out when you order I called in earlier today had a voucher for free chicken nuggets or double cheese burger which I asked for and they gave me the chicken nuggets, my daughter's went a few minutes ago didn't get the apple pie, wrong order of burger different burger giving, the other burgers that they asked to be plain had everything on them, a tip double check orders before leaving mcdonals.

25/10/2024: Being open 24/7 this Mcdonalds is a lifesaver for people like me who often craves a midnight snack. Lots of choices and I am always satisfied. Loved the drive through always been a frequent visitor 😂. The down side is I have to work hard in gym to lose all the things I am eating 😂😅

17/09/2024: This stop was perfect for lunch. I had the Verona panini. The bread was amazing. It was so delicious. I also had a chocolate peanut butter cup that was a fantastic treat! The staff was friendly, helpful, and quick serving us.

14/09/2024: While The Gourmet Store proclaims that it is gourmet, I think it would be more fair more then to say that it is a food store that specializes in Italian food goods. They have pasta, sauces, Italian cookies, olives, etc. Then there is a smattering of Irish crackers, jams/preserves, etc. that are strangely juxtaposed. Not even really a great selection of salumi and cheese. Go if you need Italian foodstuffs, but there are better places in Kilkenny to find local Irish food products.

30/10/2024: Good spot anytime we've been in for the breakfast. The kids enjoy it.

22/10/2024: Staff were so lovely, went above and beyond to ensure I got what I ordered.

24/09/2024: €17 for 2 sandwiches and two soft-drinks, no salad or catering crisps with it, tasted weak.

31/08/2024: Extremely rude lady on the front counter, when asked to use a clean knife to make my sandwich (due to egg allergy - I carry an epipen), muttered that there was no egg there and when i asked if my allergy was a problem to her she said it again, ruder and louder! I informed her that the knife she had previously used to make my husbands sandwich still had mayonnaise on the blade as well as on her gloves, a condiment that is made with egg! Told her she was extremely rude and we left, went across to O'Briens, where they made me a fabulous, egg free sandwich 🥪

03/09/2024: Unfortunately I was the first one to arrive on a sunny Friday evening and while the beer garden is nice enough the entrance to the pub / inside smelled like wet dog. Not somewhere to hang out when it's bright outside I would say..Great barman however and very friendly, just shame about the run down decor and furnishings

11/08/2024: I ordered the won ton soup to start and my husband ordered the spare ribs. He enjoyed his ribs but my won ton soup was not great. It had like oxo beef stock in it rather than the authentic clear soup and no pak Choi but carrots in it. The won tons were not very big and hardly had any meat in it. €5.30 for it was not worth it. The second course of shredded beef was delicious and a good portion - very expensive though. My husband enjoyed his szchechuan chicken and rice. Usually chow mein has some beansprouts but there was none in the chow mein. The prawn crackers were given as a free snack but were fried in some reused oil and were very thin, so not tasty at all. Overall a mixed experience with the food, some of it was not authentic but the mains were tasty. Location was in a lovely part of Kilkenny city centre. The restaurant itself needed a bit of sprucing up but it was ok. It was very pricy I thought though. 2 courses for €52 for 2 people and we had just water for drinks. The service was very good. Friendly staff.
