Fantastic French/Irish restaurant. Well located in the center of Kilkenny next to the castle. Vintage decor with a bistro feel. Excellent menu, impeccably prepared. Attentive and professional service. Very good wine list. Homemade and well-made desserts. Very reasonable prices. Well worth a visit.

Excellent service as usual but food is extremely overpriced for the quality in return. Risotto was stodgy and Fish of the Day was dry and the baked potato didn't help that. Duck was cooked superbly. Way too expensive to go back again for dinner

The restaurant is welcoming and elegant, tastefully decorated and characterized by soft lighting and pleasant background music. The staff is impeccable. The food didn't live up to expectations: the risotto was overcooked and not really risotto at all, and the other dishes were good but nothing special.

One of the best crème brûlée I've ever eaten

This was my favorite restaurant in our multi city tour of Ireland. Excellent food and cocktails plus an extensive wine list. Very friendly and attentive staff. Atmosphere is incredible too.

Very nice setting. The food was good however for the price point I would have expected better.

There were very limited vegetarian options compared to many other places that I have recently visited. Besides the veg dish I ordered, was lacking in flavour and salt was very unevenly distributed in the dish.

I visited Rive Gauche for the first time with my siblings on a very wet Sunday evening. We had been in Kilkenny for a week after the passing of our Mother. She had a 90 euro voucher after her birthday which we used. The venue has a great atmosphere and fantastic interior decor. The customer service is attentive and courteous. My sister ordered the rump of lamb, my brother the chicken and I went for the risotto and salad. We washed it down with a very pleasant bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. The food was delivered to our table in a timely fashion. All the meals were presented well on the plates. All the elements were perfectly cooked and prepared. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Rive Gauche.

Lovely atmosphere, excellent food, and brilliant service. The staff were friendly and attentive, and everything was delicious. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
