Great spot just on the end of McCurtain Street, which is becoming the social hub of Cork City. Good beers and cocktails and great service.

an incredible experience at Thompsons! From the moment we arrived, the staff were absolutely outstanding and deserve every one of these five stars. They were warm, attentive, professional, and genuinely made us feel so welcome throughout the evening. The food was exceptional, with perfectly cooked steak and delicious sides, but what really made our visit unforgettable was the kindness of the team. Without any prior knowledge or special request from us, they noticed we were celebrating our daughter’s 11th birthday and went out of their way to make it extra special. It was such a thoughtful gesture and completely unexpected, creating a memory she’ll treasure for a long time. It’s rare to come across service that’s this genuine and heartfelt. The combination of amazing food and truly exceptional staff makes Thompsons one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Cork. We can’t wait to return. Highly recommended!

Superb restaurant, beautifully presented dishes. Remember to book ahead on weekends as it's often full. It's well worth the trip.

Extremely noisy, even for Irish standards (though it's good you joyful people) but a modest size sirloin ("dry aged) for 38 euro (without sides) should not be chewy and where the "chef" got the idea of adding so much sugar to the French beans I thought it was a dessert is absolutely unclear. Though the surrounding is Ok, poor food can not be excused.

Staff were excellent. Lovely building, promising menu offering range of prices. Steak was very dissapointing. I asked advice regarding rump vs sirloin decided to go with rump as advice was just as tasty but smaller. Ordered medium rare and received what looked like a fillet as was high and fillet shaped. Was dry and served slightly pink in middle and dry and tough on outer edges. Béarnaise sauce also dissapointing. Hispi cabbage was standout and fres cress also lovely. My fellow diners were happy with their fish and chips

One of the few classy places left in cork, with a fantastic cuisine and lovely staff. Their beer on tap is a must-try!

Deleted my previous 5 star review just to leave another one. THATS HOW GOOD IT IS!! Food was amazing as always and Aoife, our server was incredibly attentive, funny and made our date night special. Definitely going back, worth every cent spent! Thanks again!
