Townsend House in Birr

Went for tapas on Christmas work night out. Gorgeous

The place is okay. We paid €200 a night for 2 people, which is a lot, but understand, given there was a wedding and Country Arms Birr was fully booked, and it was NYE. Still, it was quite a shocking price—but then again, Ireland. It's expensive for what it is, but that's the nature of supply and demand, as they say. We stayed in the front room, and the traffic noise was really bad. Worse than that, the heating in the room was off, and we couldn’t find anyone to help us, so there was no solution, and it was freezing. We woke up with the heat on in the morning. It also has a breakfast with it, Irish fry up. It's okay.

Beautiful authentic b&b, great hosts - and a beautiful tapas restaurant next door ran by them also, so everything covered!!

Hello! We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel: everything was clean, comfortable, and cozy. We especially appreciated the comfortable mattress — it was a great sleep. We were very satisfied with the check-in: there is parking, and the owner kindly met us even at midnight, although the reception closes at 10. He waited for us, and everything went perfectly. In the morning, there was a wonderful breakfast in a pleasant atmosphere. We were completely satisfied and gladly recommend this hotel to others!
