Fantastic restaurant. Great atmosphere. The food was amazing, maybe the best pork belly I've ever had. Large wine selection. Prices are higher than average, but the quality of the experience is definitely worth it. Would visit again

Called in here for dinner midweek. I had never been here before and thought this was a small, intimate restaurant. Looks deceive. Upon entering it's actually really large! It conveys an air of class and the staff have an assuredness sadly lacking in a lot of other places. Very friendly and knowledgeable. I had scallops for a start and they came with the roe attached which is a first for me. They were lovely with a cauliflower puree. My wife had the chicken liver paté which she enjoyed. For mains I had the Pork Belly and it was tender and the crackling was fantastic. She had the mushroom and truffle tagliatelle which was lovely but seemd quite a small portion. Desserts were Bread & Butter pudding and Peanut Mess. Both were lovely. Wine can be had by the glass which is good.

Wow wow wow.....Robert and his team made our trip to this fine establishment a night to remember. The exquisite food, ambience, comfort, and first class service far exceeded expectations. We were a group of 7 ladies celebrating a special birthday and it was just an amazing experience from start to finish. Thank you to everyone in the Trocadero for a truly special night. We are all extremely grateful for the culinary delights and wonderful memories made.

Had the 3 course set menu with some friends, food was great. Perfectly cooked, can't complain. We ordered some espresso martinis near the end of our dining experience but were quite disappointed as there was a very strong burnt coffee taste. No sweetness or balance of flavours, I would be leaning towards the fact that the coffee machine hasn't been looked after or looked at by a professional for some time for sure. Perhaps the staff isn't aware of this burnt coffee taste from their espresso machine, it could've been masked by some extra sweetness from sugar syrup or something similar. Would recommend, but not the espresso martini unfortunately.

Had a meal here before heading to a show in Vicar St. I had the pate followed by the cannelloni, both dishes were delicious. My husband wasn't as happy with his choices (some kind of fish) but he admitted he hadn't properly read the menu description. It's a little on the expensive side but a nice treat particularly if you're going to a show.

Mary's

17/04/2025: Awesome spot for drinks and food
10/04/2025: We had a drink here and we ordered a burger. The burger wasn't the best to be honest. It seemed over done and wasn't very enjoyable. The bar itself is a great idea and seems to have a nice atmosphere.

Bastible

17/05/2025: We recently returned to Bastible for the first time since before the pandemic, choosing it as the spot to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately, we left feeling more underwhelmed than impressed. To be clear, the food was good and well-executed, with no dishes we actively disliked. But for a restaurant with such a strong reputation (and a price tag to match), the overall experience fell short in several ways. The biggest letdown was the service. Having worked in hospitality myself and dined at multiple Michelin-starred restaurants both in Dublin and abroad, I had certain expectations. Not for extravagance, but for attentiveness and care. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. Staff seemed disengaged, with minimal explanation or enthusiasm when presenting dishes. The wine pairings were introduced with little context or storytelling, and the sommelier in particular seemed rushed, as if he were trying to get through the evening’s service rather than elevate it. For a bill that came to over €400 for the tasting menu and wine pairing, we expected more than “fine.” There was no sense of occasion, no added effort to make the evening feel even remotely special. We’ve spent far less in unstarred restaurants and left feeling far more satisfied and cared for. In short: if you’re visiting Bastible for the food alone, you’ll likely enjoy it. But if you’re hoping for a full dining experience, one that justifies the price and pedigree, you may want to look elsewhere.
06/05/2025: Just be aware when booking, if a high table comes up, it is more like a bar table, and seats are stools with no backs. It's not v comfortable. Pity. All the food scrumptious.
