Urbanity in Dublin

This review was due a couple of weeks ago, but I'm still enjoying the coffee I bought at Urbanity. Still, a few notes to help travelers while in Dublin. We were looking for a place to have a good coffee with breakfast. The family likes to eat heartily at the start of the day, and Urbanity did not disappoint. The menu is positively bold with an emphasis on natural and organic ingredients. I had a sourdough toast topped with avocado, mung bean, water chestnuts, and a soy and garlic pesto... Topped with an organic fried egg, and side bacon. This fill me in enough to board the plane back to Canada, where I'm regretting not having the chance to try other items on the menu. Now the coffee. My server at Urbanity presented me with a brew from Apaneca-Ilamatepec in El Salvador. I recognized the region from old travels, and I was happy to taste its coffee again. I want to note this region does not historically have a coffee culture, but has optimal conditions for high-altitude coffee production. The coffee here uses the natural method of processing produce by sun drying. Urbanity buys the green beans directly from the "cooperativas" to roast them right in the store. So, I did buy some beans and brought them back to Canada where I'm still enjoying that amazing cup of coffee.

Really good quality food with decent portion sizes. The coffee drinks are also at a really tasty with strong emphasis put on the coffee quality and a lot of care put into the preparation.

Barely anything vegan for me. I had the smoothie bowl which was decent and also the only vegan option on their weekend menu. No savoury vegan option. No WiFi for customers.

Urbanity in Smithfield is an absolute gem. I dropped in solo during a busy lunchtime and was so impressed by how friendly and efficient the staff were. Even with a full house, I was looked after right away. I had a halloumi and poached egg dish on sourdough with hot sauce — fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully put together. The vibe is urban and industrial, but still feels cozy and welcoming, with soft music and a relaxed atmosphere. My iced chai latte was hands down one of the best I’ve had. They roast their own coffee beans too, and judging by the number of coffees flying out, it’s clearly a favourite with locals. What made it even better was the personal touch — I had a lovely chat with my server about the area and got great tips on places to explore nearby. Highly recommend if you’re in Dublin city and looking for a great café with amazing food, top-notch coffee, and a genuinely welcoming vibe.

Incredibly "fresh" and nice place! Best breakfast we've had here so far, and good coffee. Very nice staff who gave us tips for the rest of our stay. This place is recommended!

Como alguien que disfruta a fondo el brunch, este fue uno de mis desayunos favoritos! Fuimos un miércoles por la mañana y había asientos para caminar - ins (no toman reservas). Teníamos huevos revueltos con verduras enmantequilladas y tostadas de masa madre. También pedimos dos lados, papas fritas de halloumi y salmón ahumado - el salmón fue el mejor que he probado! Cada aspecto de este desayuno era perfecto y cada bocado estaba lleno de sabor. No puedo recomendar lo suficiente. Gracias por una gran experiencia!
