Fancy resto, has a lot of visitors. The food is great and the servings are too big but a bit pricey. The service is excellent and the staff are friendly. You can check in to their rooms, it has nice and simple hotel room but during my visit I don't know how the heater works.. It has a water heater and parking lots available.. Busy at night.
Brilliant food with massive portions. If you're planning on 3 courses just be sure you're very hungry!!! The food itself was lovely. Seemed freshly cooked and we all enjoyed our meals. It's not fine dining food but it really hits the spot. Great pint also. Very friendly welcome and service.
I'd love to give Val's a five-star review and in one sense it deserves it. The food is very good, it is a pleasant place and the menu is reasonably priced.
However, having been to Val's on several occasions, what I find really concerning is the way that the managers speak to their teenage staff.
These are not isolated instances, I have now seen this several times over the course of a number of visits. My most recent dinner companions told me they too had witnessed the same thing during several visits and found it really concerning.
Managers at Val's may think that customers don't notice this, but we do. And probably they will respond to this merely by speaking to their teenage waitresses - who probably aren't being paid much, because teenagers generally aren't - in this manner out of earshot of customers in future.
I would suggest that Val's instead should consider whether the frankly bullying style of staff management that appears to be routine is an appropriate way to treat children staff, because the good taste left by the food was superseded by the taste left from reviewing adult managers, both male and female, abusing their powers to bully waitresses who are just kids.
I very much doubt that they would want to see their own children being bullied in this manner and would suggest that managers at Val's should take a long hard look at themselves.
