Val's Takeaway in Macroom

Great chipper food. The owner is friendly and generous with the chips. He uses proper Italian ingredients for the pizza. There are free lollipops for kids. A happy, cheerful atmosphere young kids will enjoy.

I stayed at the Castle Hotel in Macroom for three weeks in September 2023. There were many nights when I returned to the hotel the restaurant had stopped serving. When that happened, I would walk down the block to Val’s Takeaway to get something to eat. The menu is what you would see at a typical chipper – pizza, burgers, chicken tenders, chips, etc. The food was ok, typical chipper food. The service was good. There were a couple of times my order was not right but the employees quickly fixed it. There were about six booths where you could sit down and eat. They were closed on Tuesday’s. They close at 10:30 p.m. There are parking spaces near the front door. I live in the United States so I like to have ice in my drinks, they do not have ice but the workers would always give me a cup for my soft drink.

Traditional Chipper with great service and the staff are great also. Very thankful for Vals they’ve kept us fed and always a great and welcoming conversation with delivery drivers. If you’re hungry and enjoy real chipper food then Vals is the place for you, especially in Macroom.
