Went a little out of our way to come here for a late lunch after visiting the Cliffs of Moher on our way to Ballyvaughan and glad we did. First, they have Murphy's on tap, which is my preferred option. Second, ordered the Beef and Guiness Stew, which was one of the 3 best dishes I had over our entire time throughout the country. It was an excellently seasoned blend of beef, carrots, and potatoes along with a scoop each of mashed potatoes as well as sweet potatoes. Extremely gratifying.

The Nagles Pub

22/07/2024: Clare vs Cork hurling final Clare won!!!
20/05/2024: Best pub I’ve visited in Ireland. A nice quiet spot with the only toilets that didn’t reek of piss. Also there was an elderly cat that passed through. Wonderful. Please be mindful and quiet if you visit.

Monk's Bar

08/12/2024: Monk's delivers expertly on two levels. First, they are a fantastic restaurant, featuring some of the best seafood you will find anywhere. Second, they have that cozy feel of an authentic Irish pub. The restaurant is light and airy, with several open spaces in which to dine. We enjoyed great customer service as well. Monk's is a true winner!
04/08/2024: I was very excited about eating here as it had been recommended to me by a number of people whose opinions I value. The setting is amazing and inside ,the restaurant is beautifully decorated. I particularly liked the sense of space, the tables were well distanced from each other and there was a bright, airy feel to the place. Service was a little haphazard, having waited fifteen minutes for my wine I reminded the waitress only to be told that the bar was very busy. Looking across, I saw just four people sitting at the bar all with drinks in front of them. At no point during our meal did anyone approach us to ask if everything was okay. Ultimately, of course, when you go to a restaurant, it is all about the food. My other half had the scampi which were very nice , but not exceptional. I had the fish pie which was totally underwhelming. I’ve had better, I’ve had worse. One type of fish, with cherry tomatoes! in a very rich creamy sauce. Just a thin layer of breadcrumbs on top. All too heavy for me, but it could be perfect for someone else . The best part of my meal was the scrumptious side salad. Food and drinks were competitively priced. A pleasant rather than a memorable experience.
