Walsh's Bar in Athlone

Gorgeous food and cakes here, definitely fresh. Would return next time I am in Clifden. One negative was their organising at busy times. There were 2 queues one for people getting stuff to take away and then further in was the queue for self serve for people who were going to sit in the cafe. Because the first queue was so busy we didnt know that there was the second queue we spent a good 10 mins in the wrong queue. Maybe if they had an usher at the door directing people to the correct queue, or serve the take-away customers through a separate window or hatch, things would be less chaotic at busy times. Dont let this put you off though. Just make sure that you get in the correct queue if you are sitting down.

We visited the café on a rainy day, the coffee saved us from frustration and boredom 😉 Coffee was very good, the sandwiches tasty. The staff was very friendly although it was a bit chaotic. Worth trying out!

Did the Athlone Whiskey tour started from here with Deirdre Keon. Well worth it, very knowledgeable on whiskeys.
