WILD Restaurant in Ballinspittle

This is simply the best restaurant I've ever eaten at in my fifty years on this earth. I am half considering moving to Ireland just to live near this place and eat there for the rest of my life. The food was beyond anything I've eaten, like the sandwich wasn't just a good sandwich that happened to be delicious, when I took a bite through the crust of the bread it crunched like a great baguette but then it was *magic* and I swear it dissolved into an effervescence of flavor that didn't even require chewing, it just melted into pure amazing mouth love. Yes, I am making up phrases to try to describe how good it was. And this was the Sandwich! My son received mussels in a garlic butter white wine sauce (I think) that made his fourteen year old soul want to propose to the cook. He has offered his entire life savings for the recipe. Everything was amazing. The homemade brownie taught my wife that sundaes can be more than just a pile of ice cream, that they can be as delicate a creation as any recipe, and be a special thing. They apologized to us that they were just starting out making lunches and these were all recipes they hadn't gotten to perfect yet... I am almost afraid of how good the established tested and polished recipes for dinners must be. I envy you if you get to find out.

Fantastic restaurant. We walked in without a booking or knowing what to expect and we couldn't have been more impressed. Beautiful blend of fine dining standard food but also homely and welcoming!

It's usually a safe bet when a local you admire takes you to a restaurant they like. Coming from a family of farmers and being an experienced chef, I'm not easily impressed when dining out. However, I was blown away by the quality, taste and originality of the dishes served in The Wild. I can't wait to come again and bring my sons, and that only happens when I'm truly overwhelmed by the joy of anything I try. Thank you and see you soon!

Varied menu, lovely atmosphere & staff.

We walked in the Wild with no reservation on a January Saturday night. Thankfully, they could seat us and we had a fabulous meal! The atmosphere was amazing, lots of people in for dinner and a lovely buzz around. The decor is so cosy. The goats cheese bonbons were so flavourful and the chicken wings, while spicy, went down a treat. For mains, the creamy hazelnut papardelle and Asian flavours beef cheek were incredible. The staff were so attentive and friendly.

We booked on New Year's Day based on the menu advertised at the door that day. When we went that evening the 2 dishes, muscles and steak, that we had travelled for were not available. It was so disappointing 😞 I ordered the fish which was to have a herb gnocchi with it but instead I got a type of potato cake thing. So all in all it was so disappointing. On the flip side tho, the staff were polite and attentive.

Wild is a treat and a fantastic experience for any food lover.

This is a gem worth travelling to. Excellent food. We had perfectly done chicken wings in the mouth watering house hot sauce, crispy pork belly in asian slaw, and breaded cauliflower florets with garlic and truffle mayo to start, then spectacular beef cheecks, mash, broccoli with wild mushroom sauce, and pappardelle squash basil sauce with parmesan. For desert a 'Wild' mess with a "unicorn tears" berry compote with fresh strawberries, and a decadent belgian chocolate hot sweet treat served with vanilla ice cream. We left more than satisfied.
