The Wild Atlantic Lodge
Ballyvaughan
08/05/2026: Our walking group stayed for 4 nights at the Wild Atlantic Lodge and we were so impressed. Shauna and all the staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. Rooms very comfortable. Freshly cooked breakfast made to order each morning. We enjoyed excellent dinner menu on 2 evenings in the restaurant. A real gem.
30/04/2026: A must visit! We came here 25 years ago for our honeymoon and the nostalgia was real coming back. Shauna and team have outdone themselves, from the interior remodel of the hotel, preservation of the pub atmosphere, and revamping of the upscale menu - it is the premier place to stop when in Ballyvaughan! Don’t miss out on the sticky toffee pudding - you’ll regret not ordering it.

O'Loclainn's Irish Whiskey Bar
Ballyvaughan
27/05/2026: There's no food here...but a huge selection of whiskey.
The landlady had some time for us, and we learned something about every whiskey we tried.
She really has a wealth of knowledge about everything she has to offer.
The atmosphere is so quaint and cozy, exactly what you'd imagine a pub to be.
I highly recommend taking some time out and stopping by.
25/05/2026: Margie made sure everyone was well tended and smiles for all, single handled. What a great place. Don't miss out and don't worry if it's crowded, you'll be taken care of with a smile and embraced like you belong there, cause you do.

Hylands Burren Hotel
Ballyvaughan
24/05/2026: Room 29 is not suitable for guests. There was a heavy, stuffy smell in the room. Fortunately, the window could be opened to air it out. Unfortunately: the kitchen ventilation exhaust was located right in front of the window. Besides the smell of frying, it made quite a lot of noise.
We asked for another room, but were assured that the kitchen would close at 8:00 PM and wouldn't reopen until 8:00 AM the next morning. Well, in practice, that was 9:45 PM and 6:30 AM (!). But even when the ventilation was off, things weren't right: the small terrace where guests or staff could smoke a cigarette or make a phone call was directly under our window. And unfortunately, this was done regularly at night as well.
In short: refuse room 29.
The hotel management really needs to do something about this; such an unsuitable room detracts from the entire stay. It is a real shame, because the location is good, the people are nice, and the breakfast is good.
12/05/2026: I would gladly give the food stars. My room was still awaiting renovation, but it was clean and we lacked nothing. A charming hotel, just as you'd expect in Ireland. Super friendly staff.

L'Arco
Ballyvaughan
08/05/2025: The main thing is, it was there!
There was a good Italian restaurant, but it's gone. Too bad.
