05/09/2026: I am writing to raise a concern about something I witnessed while waiting in the drive-thru at McDonald’s Newbridge. While looking into the kitchen area, I observed a staff member with long hair tied up in a bun repeatedly scratching and touching his hair while working. What made this particularly concerning was that it appeared to happen openly around other employees, yet nobody seemed at all fazed by it or concerned about the hygiene implications. I did not see any handwashing or sanitising take place afterward, and from a customer’s perspective, it was very off-putting to watch. I also noticed that staff were not wearing gloves. While I cannot say with certainty whether this employee handled my food, seeing someone repeatedly scratching their hair in a food preparation environment and then carrying on as normal was unpleasant and did not inspire confidence in the hygiene standards being followed. What stood out most was not just the behaviour itself, but the fact that it appeared completely normal to the staff around him. As a customer purchasing food, I found the whole situation unhygienic, disgusting, and very off-putting. I would appreciate it if this matter could be reviewed and if staff could be reminded of the importance of proper hygiene practices when working around food.
