Kappa Ya
Galway
01/02/2025: One of a kind. Such delicious food, and such a nice chef. This place will be missed. All the best in your next adventure.
21/12/2024: Myself and one of my friends had the teriyaki chicken don and it tasted so good. The chicken was marinated and the rice mixed with the sauce was heavenly and a great mix of savoury and sweet. The egg was chopped up very finely and had a soft texture and the green beans had a very refreshing flavour and I think it was blanched so it had a very refreshing crunch to it! Some of the juices sunk down to the bottom of the bowl and it was such a sweet and delicious flavour.
I would say we waited quite a while but there was only one cook when we went so it made sense. The inside is decorated really well and the atmosphere felt really welcoming. My other friend had the tempura sushi roll and miso soup and she really enjoyed it.
Price wise, you are definitely getting more than what you paid for. I've paid more in other restaurants for less amounts of food. I paid €18 for the teriyaki chicken don and I would definitely say I got my money's worth.
The wait was like 40 minutes for 3 people and it was quite empty, so if you are on a tight schedule you might not want to go, but I personally don't mind waiting 40 minutes for a meal.
10/10 I would really recommend to go and I'm definitely going again!! 🤤🤤🙏🙏

Tomodachi
Galway
03/11/2025: I've eaten in Tomodachi many times and have always loved it: it's by far the best Japanese in Galway.
Unfortunately there's a but.
We never felt that it was good value for money, at least in terms of quantity, but it wasn't too blatant.
However over the last year it's become worse and worse.
On our last and sadly final visit we ordered Edamame, pork gyoza, a rainbow roll and a chicken and prawn yakiudon. The gyoza and roll weren't generous but were fine. As for the other dishes...
The edamame consisted of a tiny pile of maybe 15 to 20 bean pods. It would have fit easily in my closed palm.
The yakiudon had 6 or 7 thumb-tip sized pieces of chicken (I'm including the fatty bits) and 4, FOUR, prawns.
I called this to the attention of the person I guessed to be the senior waiter only to have her respond very politely and overly sympathetically, in what I took to be a genuine attempt to mollify us. She apologised for the disappointment and explained about the increasing costs. We're all aware of the crisis but the quantities mentioned above are just flatly insulting.
With 1 Asahi, a hot sake and a yuzu tea it came to €110. 10% service charge included and no attempt to address my complaint.
€110 for a small, quick meal for two.
Sorry Tomodachi, we won't be back at those prices.
02/11/2025: Absolutely amazing. Food is delicious, and fast to arrive. Pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. The servers are very friendly and attentive. 10/ 10. I will Absolutely be returning

NEO
Galway
29/11/2025: The service is bit on the lower side as the frontend staff were not trained properly and they have no clue on how to handle customers. The food is very good but should try to reduce the serving time as it took 45 minutes to get starters. Please improve the service and everything will fall in line.
28/11/2025: Kerala cusine. The Green chilli chicken curry, beef are all good. Service is great. You can skip desert.

17/07/2025: Great to find decent sushi. Been craving after a few weeks away from home and been disappointed so far in our travels. Great service and decent selection.
Estoy enamorado y no puedo esperar a volver.
