The best restaurants in Gob an choire

06/08/2025: Vicky and I stopped by Achill Sound Hotel for coffee and scones, and we had a delightful experience. The atmosphere was warm, the staff were friendly, and the scones were delicious. Highly recommend for a cozy pitstop!

22/07/2025: We popped into the bar for a quick bite in between lunch and dinner. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. Stop in and stay with them and grab a pint and food. They have a platter with various seafood. The smoked salmon was incredible!

11/07/2025: Nice enough spot for a roadside pint. Didn't seem like the kitchen was open at 4p on a Thursday.

30/06/2025: A great traditional Eire pub, well attended by locals and a friendly owner. Deco is spot on with lots of shining dark woods on counters and tables.. The deco within and outside the pub makes good use of contrasting wood and stone with the colour yellow which makes for an interesting look. There are tables outside the front of the pub and a large covered area at the back of the pub too. Dogs are allowed outside in the open front area and in the covered area at the rear which you can easily access at the side of the building, so there is no need to enter through the front door.

20/07/2025: We stopped in at the pub for a late lunch. My wife and I both ordered Fish & Chips. Probably the best Fish & Chips we have had in a long time. Tartar sauce was fresh, tasty and perfect.

15/07/2025: At 61yrs young it was my first ever visit to Achill Island despite only living a few hours away. I have to say the Hotel is a little dated ref décor and furnishings etc. But this only adds to its charm . it's spotless, big comfy bed , fresh fluffy towels . And an amazing big hearty breakfast all included I'm my room rate of just €75 for one ptfor one night. A double room rate of €120 for 2 sharing with breakfast is also available. The view out my Bedroom window was so beautiful A family run hotel , the staff are so friendly and give a great service. I've attached some videos of the hotel and achill . Enjoy
