The best restaurants in Newport

25/06/2026: Excellent bar food: I took a duck served in two big legs, probably the best I have had those last 30-40 years! I often take duck i the best restaurants including Michelin star, but nothing arrived at the level of the quality of this duck! Probably a true farm raised duck, living outside and semi wild! Perfectly cooked with a gentle orange sauce, and a very good mashed potato and other vegetables. The duck skin was crispy, but the flesh very soft, flavored and greasy. My wife took a monk fish, served in two big parts, also delicious with a light butter sauce and purée also. Not only the quality of the products is perfect, but it is incredibly well cooked. But the best is for the end : the bill was only 50 euros, including 3 beers! Very nice and smiling service, bringing water for our dog on this beautiful and sunny day! Marvelous dinner in this famous bar! Go there !

16/06/2026: Didnt eat or drink, but a small bottle of water 3.20 euros is too much. Cant imagine the food and the drinks how much they are!

03/07/2026: We were passing through Newport earlier today & stopped for food in lovely cafe. Thr chowder was divine, accompanied by some homemade brown bread I also had a "black goat"? Black pudding topped with goats cheese. The pudding is sold in the butchers of the same name next doo. We purchased locally homemade sausages & puddings from the butchers also

23/06/2026: This place is currently misrepresented online, both on their own website and in the older reviews. Opening hours are shorter than advertised, the venue is tiny, and worst of all, at 1pm on a weekday only the breakfast menu was offered, with no sign of the more expansive lunch menu. Watch also if ordering coffee, the filter coffee is fine, but order an Americano, and you'll still be getting a filter coffee. Just about adequate as a quick stop for coffee and a scone, for anything beyond that, this place doesn't cut it...
